FG Deepens Defence Industry Partnerships at SAHA 2026 in Türkiye

Istanbul, Türkiye – May 6, 2026

The Federal Government of Nigeria has intensified efforts to strengthen domestic defence manufacturing and expand international military cooperation as part of a renewed push for self-reliance in defence production.

Leading Nigeria’s delegation to the SAHA Expo Defence and Aerospace Exhibition 2026 in Istanbul, the Minister of State for Defence, Dr. Bello Matawalle, held strategic engagements with global defence manufacturers, technology firms, and military partners aimed at advancing technology transfer and joint production arrangements.

The high-level participation underscores Nigeria’s commitment to repositioning its defence industry through the Defence Industries Corporation of Nigeria (DICON), with a focus on local content development, innovation in weapons systems, and enhanced operational readiness of the Armed Forces of Nigeria.

According to officials at the exhibition, discussions centred on partnerships that will enable Nigeria to scale up indigenous production of military hardware, reduce dependency on foreign procurement, and build sustainable capacity in aerospace and defence engineering.

The SAHA Expo, one of the world’s leading defence and aerospace exhibitions, brought together defence ministers, military chiefs, and industry leaders from multiple countries to showcase advanced technologies and explore collaborative opportunities.

Nigeria’s participation is expected to translate into expanded cooperation agreements, particularly in the areas of unmanned systems, armour production, intelligence technology, and maintenance of military platforms.

Officials described the engagement as a key milestone in the country’s long-term strategy to modernize its defence architecture and strengthen national security through industrial self-sufficiency. ゚viralシviralシfypシ゚viralシalシ

NSA Forest Security Service passes out 673 men

AWC Security Desk

Abuja, April 24, 2026 — The National Security Adviser, NSA, Nuhu Ribadu, has intensified efforts to strengthen Nigeria’s internal security architecture through the expansion of the Nigeria Forest Security Service, as part of President Bola Ahmed Tinubu’s Renewed Hope Agenda on the protection of lives and property.

Strengthening Security from the Forests

Under Ribadu’s coordination, the Federal Government has expanded and restructured the Nigeria Forest Security Service, equipping officers with specialized training and operational tools to tackle:

Terrorism
Kidnapping
Banditry
Illegal activities within forest regions
Rural insecurity across vulnerable communities

Security analysts note that the initiative is designed to close long-standing security gaps in Nigeria’s forest belts, often exploited by criminal elements.

Passing Out Parade Signals Readiness

Speaking at the Passing Out Parade of 673 men of the National Forest Guard (Special Squad), in Osun State, stakeholders emphasized the significance of the new force in reinforcing and complementing national security.

Addressing the graduating officers, Mallam Nuhu Ribadu, who was represented at the event by DCP Mohammed Ahmadu, rtd., stated that the men have received adequate training to effectively carryout the charge by the NSA to neutralize all Forest based crimes including terrorism, banditry, kidnapping and others.

The leadership and training instructors were also commended for shaping the officers into a formidable force ready for deployment.

Driving Tinubu’s Security Vision

The initiative aligns with President Tinubu’s broader objective of restoring security nationwide, particularly in rural and forested, ungoverned areas where criminal networks have thrived.

Ribadu’s strategy is widely seen as a proactive and intelligence-driven approach, combining:

Community-based security structures
Specialized tactical units
Inter-agency collaboration
Tribute to Leadership and Mentorship

At the event, members of the Special Squad Course 4 paid tribute to the NSA, Mallam Nuhu Ribadu, his representative, DCP Mohammed Ahmadu.

Dedication to mentoring young officers
Role in fostering unity, discipline, and resilience

91.45% ICAO Rating Elevates Nigeria’s Aviation Credibility, Spotlights Keyamo-Led Reforms

Abuja, April 23, 2026 — Nigeria’s aviation sector has received a major international endorsement following a 91.45% safety rating by the International Civil Aviation Organization (ICAO), a development widely seen as a validation of reforms driven by the administration of President Bola Ahmed Tinubu and the leadership of the Minister of Aviation, Festus Keyamo.

Global Credibility Boost

The ICAO rating, Nigeria’s highest ever under the Universal Safety Oversight Audit Programme (USOAP), places the country well above regional and global averages, reinforcing confidence in the safety and reliability of its airspace.

Aviation analysts say the score signals that Nigeria now meets — and in some areas exceeds — international best practices in safety oversight, making it a more attractive destination for:

International airlines

Aviation investors

Aircraft leasing and maintenance firms

Keyamo’s Reform Footprint

The milestone is being attributed to a coordinated reform drive across aviation agencies under the supervision of Minister Festus Keyamo, whose policy direction has prioritised regulatory compliance, institutional efficiency, and safety enforcement.

At the core of this success is the strengthened performance of key aviation institutions:

Nigeria Civil Aviation Authority (NCAA): Enhanced regulatory oversight and strict compliance enforcement

Nigerian Airspace Management Agency: Improved air navigation systems and airspace safety management

Federal Airports Authority of Nigeria: Upgraded airport infrastructure and safety protocols

Nigerian Meteorological Agency: Strengthened weather forecasting systems critical to flight safety

Together, these agencies have played a central role in aligning Nigeria’s aviation ecosystem with ICAO’s stringent safety benchmarks.

From Compliance to Competitiveness

The improved rating reflects not just regulatory compliance but a broader transition toward a modern, data-driven aviation system, with emphasis on:

Safety oversight mechanisms

Real-time operational monitoring

Institutional coordination across MDAs

This transformation is seen as critical to Nigeria’s ambition of becoming a regional aviation hub.

Economic and Strategic Impact

The credibility boost is expected to:

Increase foreign direct investment in aviation infrastructure

Strengthen Nigeria’s role in global air transport networks

Enhance passenger confidence and airline operations

President Tinubu described the rating as a testament to the administration’s commitment to making aviation a key driver of economic growth.

Sustaining the Momentum

While celebrating the achievement, stakeholders note that sustaining the rating will require:

Continuous implementation of ICAO recommendations

Ongoing investment in technology and infrastructure

Consistent regulatory vigilance

Outlook

With global confidence rising, Nigeria’s aviation sector is poised for expanded international partnerships and increased traffic, provided current reforms are sustained.

Bottom Line

The ICAO rating has not only elevated Nigeria’s aviation credibility but also highlighted the impact of coordinated reforms under Festus Keyamo and key aviation agencies, positioning the country as a safer and more competitive player in global aviation. ゚viralシviralシfypシ゚viralシalシ

Abuja, April 22, 2026 — President Bola Ahmed Tinubu has approved a minor cabinet reshuffle, leading to the exit of two key ministers from the Federal Executive Council (FEC) as part of efforts to strengthen governance and policy delivery.

Key Changes in the Cabinet

Taiwo Oyedele has been elevated to take over the position.

In the housing sector:

Ahmed Musa Dangiwa has also left the cabinet

Dangiwa has been directed to hand over to the Minister of State in the ministry pending further formalities.

The Presidency directed that all handover processes be completed by April 23, 2026, underscoring the urgency of the transition.

Akume stated that the changes are aimed at:

Enhancing cohesion and synergy in governance.

Strengthening economic management.

Accelerating delivery under the Renewed Hope Agenda.

He noted that the President exercised his constitutional powers under Sections 147 and 148 of the 1999 Constitution (as amended) in effecting the changes.

President Tinubu expressed appreciation to the outgoing ministers for their service and wished them success in their future endeavours, while assuring Nigerians that efforts to reinvigorate governance will continue.
