Drawn entirely in graphite, this piece explores intimacy as a language of its own — a quiet exchange of emotion expressed through closeness, light, and form. The softness of the shadows and the delicate details were intentionally crafted to mirror the vulnerability and warmth shared between the figures.

With each passing year, I am reminded of the impermanence of life and the brevity of our time on this earth. Birthdays are a poignant moment to reflect on my journey thus far, and to honor all the moments that have shaped me into who I am today. May this year be filled with growth, joy, and the wisdom that comes with each passing moment.

Once upon a time, I was an aspiring artist who picked up a pencil and paper in 2017 and decided to start drawing. With a heart full of enthusiasm, they attempted to recreate the world around them on paper, But as I drew, I quickly realized that their skills were lacking. The proportions were off, the shading was nonexistent, and the end result bore little resemblance to the subject they were trying to capture.
Undeterred, I persevered. I practiced every day, taking time to learn about proportions and the importance of tonal value. Slowly but surely, my drawings began to improve.

By 2022, my hard work had paid off. I created a new drawing, one that was realistic, had tonal value, and was proportionate. It was a beautiful piece of art that the artist could be proud of.

But as an artist I knew that I still had much to learn. I understood that the journey of an artist is a never ending one, and there was always room for improvement. I continued to practice, honing my skills and pushing myself to new heights. I never forgot my humble beginnings, though. I kept the first drawing I made as a reminder of how far I had come. It was a symbol of my determination and commitment to my craft.

And so I continued on my journey, drawing and creating every day, always striving to improve and grow. I knew that there would be ups and downs along the way, but I'm ready for the challenge.

For anyone who wishes to develop their drawing skills, remember that practice makes perfect. Keep on drawing, even when it feels like your progress is slow, and always seek out opportunities to learn and grow. With hard work and dedication, you too can become an accomplished artist.
