Yesterday, we heard the news of another promising talent cut down by cancer and people are asking these questions again - what causes cancer? How do I prevent it?
*Dear Food Vendors, Market Sellers, Farmers, Roasters, Drink Sellers and Manufacturers in Nigeria, this message is from me to you....*
Please… fear God.
That extra profit you are making today may be somebody’s chemotherapy tomorrow.
That chemical you are pouring to make food “fine” may become another family’s tears in the future.
Cancer is no longer rare.
Kidney failure is increasing.
Liver disease is rising.
Hormonal problems are everywhere.
Young people are suddenly collapsing with strange illnesses.
And many times, what we eat is part of the problem.
How can we be poisoning ourselves with our own hands?
People now:
• Roast meat with burning car tyres
Imagine eating smoke from melted rubber, engine chemicals and heavy metals because you wanted “suya aroma.”
• Add colouring to palm oil to make old oil look fresh
Some even mix spent oil with chemicals so customers won’t know.
• Rub dangerous chemicals on fish and meat so it won’t spoil
• Spray fruits with chemicals to force them to ripen faster
• Spray vegetables with chemicals to keep them looking green and fresh
• Pour sniper and pesticides on beans, grains and stored foods
• Adulterate alcoholic drinks and soft drinks
• Use formalin and other preservation chemicals on food
• Reuse frying oil again and again until it becomes toxic
• Use detergent or bleach to wash some foods to look cleaner
• Produce fake spices, fake seasonings and fake packaged drinks
• Poison foods to kill bush meat instead of using proper traps
Then innocent people buy and eat that meat.
• Some fruits are even injected to look bigger and fresher.
All because of money.
*But listen carefully:*
The people eating these foods are human beings.
Some are children.
Some are pregnant women.
Some are your own customers who trust you.
Some are your own family members too.
No amount of profit is worth destroying people’s health silently.
Dear Nigerians too, please be careful what you eat.
Not everything attractive is safe.
Wash fruits and vegetables properly.
Buy food from trusted sources.
Reduce overly processed foods.
Avoid suspiciously bright colours in food and drinks.
Do not buy chemically preserved foods because they are cheaper.
Mind what you drink as alcohol.
*And to those involved in these wicked practices:*
One day, money will finish.
But the damage done to people’s bodies may remain for life.
Let us stop turning food into poison.
Because cancer does not start in the hospital.
Sometimes… it starts in the market. 💔💔💔💔
God is watching 👀
