2027: Uzo-Uwani Reaffirms Strong Support for Gov. Mbah at PM4PM Rally, Tag one-term promise by PDP as “a scam” || NKANUTVMEDIA
Leaders, stakeholders and residents of Uzo-Uwani Local Government Area of Enugu State have reaffirmed their strong support for Governor Peter Ndubuisi Mbah’s re-election in 2027, saying his administration has demonstrated uncommon leadership and delivered significant development across the state in the last three years.
The declaration was made during a rally organised by the People’s Movement for Peter Mbah (PM4PM) at Community Primary School, Ukpabi Nimbo, on Monday.
Speaking at the event, the Chairman of Uzo-Uwani LGA, Barr. Chijioke Ezugwu, highlighted the more than 2,000 completed and ongoing projects embarked upon by the Mbah administration across Enugu State.
He recalled that the people of the state supported Mbah in 2023 because of his competence, capacity and track record, adding that they were proud of the decision.
“In 2023, we promised to deliver him and we did, against all odds. We stood our ground to choose competence, capacity and track record over and above every other consideration.
“Today, I stand here to say that we are proud of the choice we made as a people. All over Nigeria, everybody is talking about Governor Mbah. The President talks about Governor Mbah. The media talks about Governor Mbah. Enugu State was recently ranked as the fastest-improving state,” he said.
Ezugwu also commended the administration for improving security in Uzo-Uwani, recalling the security challenges previously experienced in the area.
He declared that the people were prepared to support the APC and its candidates in the 2027 general elections.
“We will vote the APC all the way. We are ready and committed to returning our President, Governor Peter Ndubuisi Mbah, Senator Ikeje Asogwa and all the APC candidates come 2027. It is settled,” he stated.
While thanking the Governor for his investments in infrastructure and the political inclusion of Uzo-Uwani in the state government, Ezugwu appealed for additional infrastructural projects in the local government.
Also speaking, the Commissioner for Agriculture and Agro-Industrialisation, Dr. Patrick Ubru, announced that Governor Mbah had constituted a committee to oversee the establishment of the University of Agriculture and Technology in Uzo-Uwani.
According to him, the institution will have a campus at Adani and is expected to further boost agriculture, education and economic development in the area.
Ubru praised the Governor’s performance and declared that Uzo-Uwani remained united in its support for Mbah and other APC candidates ahead of the 2027 elections.
The Coordinator of PM4PM in Enugu North Senatorial Zone, Chikamso Onyishi (Ochendo), described the movement as an organic political force determined to mobilise overwhelming support for Governor Mbah at every polling unit in 2027.
Onyishi also rejected the one-term promise being promoted by some political candidates, describing it as “a huge scam.”
“No one can deceive us with a one-term promise and no one can truncate the two-term tradition. It has been two terms from Dr. Chimaroke Nnamani to Barr. Sullivan Chime, to Hon. Ifeanyi Ugwuanyi. So, we cannot be fooled,” he stated.
The Director-General of PM4PM, Barr. Osinachi Nnajieze, described the movement as unique, highly organised and organic.
He said Governor Mbah had tackled insecurity in Uzo-Uwani because of his understanding of the critical connection between security and food production, noting that the area had the potential to feed the entire Southeast.
Nnajieze further highlighted projects across the local government, including Smart Green Schools and Type-2 primary healthcare centres, as well as ongoing road interventions.
He specifically mentioned the 44.8-kilometre Amah-Eke-Oghe-Iwollo-Olo-Umulokpa Road, which he said was nearing completion.
Also speaking, the member representing Uzo-Uwani Constituency in the Enugu State House of Assembly, Hon. Chukwuma Ekwueme; the APC State Secretary, Hon. Chukwudi Nnadozie; and the 2027 APC House of Representatives candidate for Igbo-Etiti/Uzo-Uwani Federal Constituency, Hon. Cornell Onwubuya, declared their support for Governor Mbah.
They said the Governor had demonstrated sufficient capacity and performance to warrant his retention in office.
Responding, the Secretary to the Enugu State Government and Grand Patron of PM4PM, Prof. Chidiebere Onyia, described the rally as a celebration of Governor Mbah’s achievements in three years.
Onyia acknowledged the developmental challenges raised by the people, particularly their demands for improved roads, assuring them that the state government was committed to addressing them.
“We have heard all your developmental requests, especially the roads, and I can assure you that we are committed to delivering on all. We will work towards it as brothers and partners.
“The University of Agriculture and Technology is coming to Uzo-Uwani with a campus at Adani, and we cannot have a university in Uzo-Uwani without quality roads. So, Uzo-Uwani is very dear to Governor Peter Ndubuisi Mbah,” he said.
He urged the people to remain mobilised ahead of the 2027 elections.
“So, as a people and support group, we must defend our polling units; we must deliver our polling units,” Onyia stated.
The colourful event attracted a large crowd comprising Uzo-Uwani stakeholders, political leaders, government officials and supporters of Governor Mbah.
Among those present were the Director of Strategy and Communication of PM4PM, Sandra George; Director of Finance, Adenike Okebu; SSA to the Governor on Strategic Communications, Dr. Collins Ogbu; SSA on Youth Mobilisation (East), Hon. Paul Ogbe; Special Assistant to the Governor on Media, Nnamani Arinze Darlington; SSA on Community Engagement, Pastor Tochukwu Ogbodo; and SSA on Heritage and Community Relations, Kenneth Asogwa, among others.
