About this Art.
The Painting ROAD2DESTINY was inspired by the memories of a time when this road was more than just a route to somewhere. It was part of our childhood, a place where memories were made, friendships were forged, and dreams quietly began to take shape.
I remember the days when we gathered with our friends for football games. The road and its surroundings became our playground. We played with the kind of passion only children could understand, turning every small space into a football field. There were arguments over goals, laughter after missed chances, and the occasional quarrel that disappeared as quickly as it began. We went home tired, dusty, and sometimes covered in mud, but already looking forward to the next game.
Those football games were never really just about football. They were about growing up. They taught us friendship, competition, teamwork, resilience, and the beautiful habit of dreaming beyond what we could see.
Today, when I look at this same environment, I am amazed by how rapidly the area has developed. Buildings have risen where we once played. Businesses have emerged, roads have become busier, and the landscape has transformed almost beyond recognition. In many ways, I am deeply impressed by this progress. The community I remember as a quiet and modest place has become increasingly vibrant and urban.
But development has also come with its own burdens.
One of the most troubling changes has been the tremendous increase in house rent and the fees demanded by house agents. What was once an affordable place for ordinary families and young people is gradually becoming difficult to live in. The cost of finding a home seems to rise almost as quickly as the buildings around us. Progress should improve people's lives, not make it harder for them to remain in the communities they helped build.
Then there are the potholes.
It is almost ironic that an area experiencing such rapid development can still have potholes that remain unrepaired for such a long time. Every day, vehicles navigate around them, pedestrians endure the inconvenience, and motorists risk damage to their cars. These seemingly ordinary potholes have become reminders that development is not complete simply because new houses and businesses are appearing.
For me, this painting is therefore more than a picture of a busy road. It is a conversation between memory, progress, and reality.
The yellow Trycircles, the pedestrians, the buildings, the electricity poles and the busy street remind me of where we came from and how far the area has travelled. Yet beneath all that movement is a question: Where are we going?
That is why I call this work “ROAD2DESTINY.”
The road represents our collective journey—from the football games of childhood to the responsibilities of adulthood; from dusty playgrounds to growing cities; from modest beginnings to ambitious dreams. Every pothole, every new building, every crowded street and every memory forms part of the journey.
I am proud of the transformation I see. I celebrate the development and the opportunities it brings. But I also hope that, as the area moves toward its destiny, development will not leave ordinary people behind.
Because a road to destiny should not only lead to bigger buildings and higher rents.
It should lead to a better life for the people who call the place home.
And perhaps, somewhere along that road, we should never forget the children who once played football there—children who believed that the world was wide enough for every dream.
