Alex Ekubo’s father’s tribute to him was read by his cousin. 💔

My dear son, Alex Ikenna, my beloved Ike bobo, Ikukwuomam. The day I received the news of passing was the darkest day of my life. As a father, I never imagined that I would live to write a tribute to my own son. This is a pain that cuts deep, that cuts deep into the heart, a wound that words cannot heal. Ikenna, you were a precious gift from God. You brought joy, honor, and happiness to our family. Your smile lit up every room, your laughter brought comfort and joy, and your kind heart drew many people close to you. You were a son any father would be proud of, respectful, loving, cheerful, and compassionate.
You carried yourself with dignity and treated everyone with kindness. Many knew you, many loved you, and many will continue to remember you. My dear son, Ikukuomam, your name speaks of strength, movement, and presence. Like the wind, you touched many lives. Though we could not hold on to you forever, the impact of your life remains with us. Who am I to question God? The Almighty gives and the Almighty takes away. Yet, as a father, my heart is heavy. I wish for more years with you. I wish to hear your voice again, to see your smile again, and to watch you continue life's journey, especially alongside your beloved wife, Anwili.
Today, I remember not only your many achievements, but also your character. And I remember your generosity, especially towards me, your father, your warmth, and the love you freely shared with family and friends. These memories are treasured.
Nwamam, Nwanyi, Nwanyi, God, you were a good son who feared and served God faithfully, a son whose life brought great honor and pride to his family. Your departure has left a void that can never be filled. As we commit your body to... As we commit your body to mother earth, we pray that your soul finds eternal rest in the bosom of Almighty God. May perpetual light shine upon you. You loved, you left footprints on our hearts that time can never erase. Until we meet again. — Mazi.

SAVING "UGO SHAVE ME" : A PASSIONATE APPEAL FOR NOLLYWOOD STAR, IFEANYI EZEOKEKE

June 8, 2026.

For many who closely followed Nollywood’s golden era at the turn of the millennium, the name Ifeanyi Ezeokeke or his beloved moniker, "Ugo Shave Me," evokes fond memories of laughter, brilliant comic timing, and pure entertainment.

Hailing from Nachi in Udi Local Government Area of Enugu State, Ifeanyi was a rising star whose acting prowess brought profound joy into millions of Nigerian homes. His breakout role came in the year 2000 with the hit movie "CONSPIRACY," where his unforgettable, humorous performance shot him straight into the limelight and cemented his place in the hearts of film lovers across the nation.

Yet, behind the laughter he once gifted the world lies a deeply heartbreaking reality that has persisted for nearly two decades.

In 2008, at the peak of his youth and on the verge of a bright future, tragedy struck. Ifeanyi, then a final-year student at the University of Nigeria Enugu Campus (UNEC), had just returned from a film shooting in Ghana. As he prepared for his final project defense, he suffered a sudden, severe stroke. The vibrant young actor who once commanded the screen was instantly grounded.

As the only son of his parents, the weight of this affliction shattered his family. For years, they moved him from one hospital to another, relentlessly searching for a medical breakthrough, but all to no avail. The physical, emotional, and financial toll on Ifeanyi’s family has been catastrophic.

In 2013, unable to bear the agony of watching his only son wither away in pain, Ifeanyi’s father passed away from severe heartbreak. His aging mother became his sole anchor. But while running around in a desperate bid to find a solution for her son, she was involved in a ghastly motor accident that left her with a severely fractured leg, thereby compounding the family’s physical agony. Years of endless medical bills have completely drained the family's entire fortune, leaving them entirely handicapped and unable to afford basic daily sustenance, let alone specialized medical care.

In the attached picture, the devastating reality of Ifeanyi’s current state is laid bare. Sitting frail in a chair, a stark contrast to the energetic actor we once knew, he is flanked by his resilient but visibly exhausted aging mother.

Yet, amidst the physical deterioration, a flicker of hope remains. Crucially, Ifeanyi’s memory is completely intact. While the stroke has stolen his ability to speak clearly, he understands everything around him and vividly recalls past events. He has not given up. He still holds onto the hope of a full recovery, trapped inside a body that just needs the right medical intervention to heal.

Both conventional and traditional medical experts indicate that with a vigorous, specialized medical treatment plan, Ifeanyi Ezeokeke can still reclaim his life. However, this medical lifeline comes at a cost of over eight million naira (₦8,000,000), an amount that his fractured, impoverished family cannot raise on their own.

His aging mother is making a passionate, tearful appeal to the government at all levels, the leadership of Nollywood, corporate organizations, and good-spirited individuals worldwide to come to their aid and save her only son.

Ifeanyi Ezeokeke once spent his youth making us smile. Now, in his greatest hour of need, we cannot turn our backs on him. Please let us join hands to bring "Ugo Shave Me" back to his feet and restore happiness to a mother who has sacrificed everything for her only son.

Ifeanyi Ezeokeke can be reached through his mother via her phone number: 07037828342.

Please you can also send your financial support to her via the following account details:

May we never be stroke down at the verge of our breakthrough. Amen 🙏
