ᴛʜᴇ ᴊᴏᴜʀɴᴇʏ ᴏꜰ ʜᴇᴀʀᴛʙʀᴇᴀᴋ ᴀɴᴅ ʜᴇᴀʟɪɴɢ ( ᴇᴘɪꜱᴏᴅᴇ 6 )

David was moved by Emmanuella’s words. He realized how lucky he was to have someone like her by his side. As much as he still felt the pain from T**i’s betrayal, he knew that Emmanuella had shown him something far more valuable – loyalty and love that didn’t come with strings attached.

David’s healing process wasn’t quick, and it wasn’t easy. But with time, he learned to let go of the anger and hurt that had held him back. He learned that it wasn’t just about forgetting the past; it was about embracing the future, no matter how uncertain it might seem.

Every day, David focused on his work, his students, and the people who cared about him. Slowly but surely, he started to realize that he had been putting his own happiness on hold for too long. His journey to healing wasn’t about waiting for someone else to come back into his life; it was about finding peace within himself.

As the months went by, David became more comfortable in his own skin. He had finally accepted that love wasn’t about what he could give; it was about mutual respect, trust, and understanding. Emmanuella remained by his side, offering him the support he needed, without any expectations.

One day, as they walked home together, Emmanuella smiled at David. “I’ve been thinking…” she started. “Maybe it’s time for us to take a step forward.”

David felt a sense of warmth spread through him. It wasn’t the same kind of love he had felt for T**i, but it was something real. “I think you’re right,” he said, smiling for the first time in a long while. “It’s time to move forward.”

David and Emmanuella began spending more time together, their bond growing stronger with every passing day. There were no grand declarations of love, no rush to make promises; instead, they simply enjoyed each other’s company and built a trust that felt comfortable and steady.

For the first time in a long while, David felt a sense of peace. Emmanuella had a way of making him laugh, making him feel like he could be himself without fear of judgment. She wasn’t trying to replace T**i in his heart; she was carving out a space of her own, and that was something David could appreciate. It was a slow process, but David no longer feared that he would be betrayed again. With Emmanuella, he felt safe.

The more time they spent together, the more David realized how much Emmanuella had become an important part of his life. She was patient, understanding, and loyal—qualities he had come to value more than anything. Though he wasn’t ready to jump into a new relationship just yet, David knew that with Emmanuella, he had found someone who could help him heal.

One quiet evening, David received a message from T**i. It had been months since their last conversation, and he hadn’t expected to hear from her again. His heart still ached when he thought about the pain she caused him, but he had worked hard to move on. T**i asked if they could meet and talk, and David felt a mix of emotions.

He debated with himself, wondering if it was wise to meet her. Part of him wanted closure, while another part was afraid it would reopen old wounds. He discussed it with Emmanuella, who, as always, offered her support. "Do what feels right for you, David. If you need closure, go. But don’t feel obligated."

David agreed to meet T**i at the small park where they had shared many moments before. As he walked there, he wondered how much he had changed since that time. When he arrived, T**i was sitting on a bench, her face filled with remorse.

“T**i,” David said softly, sitting beside her. “What do you need to say?”

T**i’s eyes were filled with tears when she looked at David. “I’m sorry, David. I was selfish. I was so caught up in wanting more that I didn’t realize how much I hurt you. I left you for someone who could give me a different life, but I’ve learned that happiness isn’t about money or material things. I was wrong.”

David listened quietly, his heart heavy but not with anger. He had spent so much time feeling bitter and broken, but now, hearing T**i’s apology, he realized that holding onto the past was only hurting him more. “T**i, I won’t lie. What you did hurt me deeply. But I’ve learned a lot from it. I’ve learned that love isn’t about sacrifice at the expense of your own happiness. And I’ve learned to forgive—not just you, but myself too.”

The weight lifted off David’s shoulders as he spoke. Forgiveness wasn’t about excusing the hurt, but about releasing the hold that pain had on his heart. He stood up, offering T**i a small smile. “I wish you well, T**i. But I’m moving on. I’ve found peace.”

After his conversation with T**i, David felt a sense of relief. The past no longer held power over him. For the first time in months, he was free from the constant ache in his chest. He had taken the necessary steps to heal, and now, he could move forward.

That evening, David met with Emmanuella, who could tell immediately that something had shifted. “How did it go?” she asked, her voice filled with concern.

“It went well,” David replied, his smile genuine. “I finally feel like I can let go of the past and move on. I don’t need to hold onto that pain anymore.”

Emmanuella’s face lit up with a smile of her own. “I’m glad, David. You deserve to be happy.”

David looked at her with newfound appreciation. Emmanuella had been his constant support throughout this difficult journey, and now, as he stepped forward into a new chapter of his life, he realized that the happiness he had once thought was impossible was finally within reach.

As time passed, David and Emmanuella’s connection deepened. There was no rush to label their relationship, no pressure to make it something it wasn’t. Instead, they took their time, enjoying the quiet moments together and learning more about each other.

David began to feel a love he had never thought he would experience again. It wasn’t the same kind of love he had felt for T**i, but it was stronger and deeper in its own way. Emmanuella was someone who understood him, accepted him for who he was, and never tried to change him. It was a love built on trust, respect, and kindness, and David cherished it every day.

One evening, as they sat under the stars, Emmanuella turned to David with a gentle smile. “I’ve been thinking,” she began. “Maybe it’s time to take things to the next level.”

David looked at her, feeling his heart race. “What do you mean?”

Emmanuella’s smile widened. “I mean, maybe it’s time to stop holding back. I know we’ve both been hurt before, but I believe we have something special here. I want to see where this could go.”

David’s heart swelled with emotion. “I think you’re right,” he said softly. “I’m ready. Let’s see where this takes us.”

David and Emmanuella continued to build their future together, their relationship growing stronger with each passing day. They faced challenges, as all relationships do, but they tackled them side by side. David knew that he had found someone who valued him for who he was, not for what he could give. And that, to him, was everything.

It was a quiet Saturday morning when David took Emmanuella’s hand and led her to the small village park. They sat on the same bench where they had spent countless hours talking about their hopes and dreams.

“I’m so grateful for you, Emmanuella,” David said, his voice full of emotion. “You’ve helped me find my way again. You’ve shown me that love doesn’t have to come with sacrifice. It can come with kindness and understanding.”

Emmanuella squeezed his hand. “And you’ve shown me that love is about patience, trust, and giving from the heart, without expecting anything in return.”

David smiled, looking up at the sky. He had once believed that love was about grand gestures and sacrifices, but now he knew it was about something much simpler—being there for each other, every step of the way. And as he sat beside Emmanuella, he knew that this was only the beginning of their journey.

He Kept Me In A Spiritual Cage for 12 Years - Episode 1

Adanne sat by the window, watching the village children laugh and play. Their joy seemed like a faraway dream to her — one she was no longer allowed to have. At eight, life had changed forever. Her parents’ death had been sudden, brutal, and soaked in mystery. No one could explain how their car veered off a dry, straight road in perfect weather and exploded on impact.

She remembered the smell of burning metal and the way adults spoke in hushed tones at the funeral. Everyone said she was lucky to have Uncle Okorie. He was her father’s elder brother — a wealthy cocoa farmer and respected elder. His large mansion stood at the edge of the village like a monument. People whispered that he was blessed by the gods.

“Adanne, your uncle has come for you,” a soft-voiced woman said at the funeral, pulling her gently toward a tall, smiling man.

He wore white, his hands filled with expensive wrappers and sweets. “Come, my dear. You’ll be safe with me now,” he said, kneeling and smiling wide. But his eyes never smiled.

The compound was vast — a courtyard with three bungalows, a garden with oddly shaped statues, and a well that never ran dry. The gate was always locked, even in broad daylight.

From the first day, Adanne noticed strange rules. She wasn't to speak to the maids unless spoken to. She was to remain indoors always. No school. No friends. No visits.

“But why can’t I go to school?” she had once asked Nneka, the maid.

Nneka lowered her eyes. “Oga said it is for your protection. Your bloodline attracts danger.”

“Bloodline?” she had whispered.

That night, she developed a fever that nearly took her life.

Every time she disobeyed or tried to escape, something happened. Her body weakened. Her skin turned pale. Her ears rang with voices.

By the time she turned twelve, Adanne realized her body was... different. No breasts. No menstruation. She remained small, almost childlike, like time itself had forgotten her.

“Why am I not growing?” she had asked Uncle Okorie during one of their rare dinners.

He looked at her for a long time and said, “Some flowers bloom later than others. Be patient.”

She stopped asking questions after that.

Mirrors stopped showing her clearly. Her reflection would fade like mist. Sometimes, she would see flashes — images of fire, rivers of blood, and her mother crying.

One humid afternoon, she found her way to the attic — a place she had been forbidden from entering. The door creaked open slowly. Cobwebs danced in the light. Dust lay thick on everything.

She began to clean, curious. That was when she found it — a black-and-white photograph of her mother, dressed in priestess robes, holding a staff with a coiled snake carved into it. Her eyes looked powerful... and sad.

Behind the photograph, written in red ink, were the words: “The Power Shall Return Through the Bloodline.”

Her hands trembled. She placed the photo in her dress pocket and returned to her room, her heart pounding.

That night, she dreamt of her mother for the first time in years. She stood waist-deep in a river of fire, weeping.

“Adanne... you must remember,” her mother cried, reaching out.

“Remember what?” Adanne screamed.

But she woke up before getting an answer.

The dreams became frequent. Each one ended with her mother’s voice saying, “You are the vessel.”

She couldn’t take it anymore. She needed answers. That was when she started secretly observing Uncle Okorie.

Late one night, she tiptoed out of her room. The house was quiet — too quiet. The crickets had stopped chirping. Even the wind was still.

From the corridor, she saw a faint orange glow at the far end of the compound, near the statue garden. She crouched and moved silently.

And then she saw him.

Uncle Okorie stood in the moonlight, dressed in a black robe, holding a goat. A circle of white chalk surrounded him, and within it, burning candles danced wildly in the wind that wasn’t there.

“Obu m Adanne, nwa m… Obu m Adanne, nwa m…” he chanted, again and again.

She gasped, stepping back.

His eyes shot open, looking straight at her. But before he could speak, the candle in his hand went out — without warning.

Darkness swallowed the yard.

Adanne turned and ran, her heart hammering. She didn’t stop until she reached her room. Her hands fumbled with the door.

She flung it open.

But what she saw made her freeze.

A glowing symbol — a circle with ancient markings — was carved into her wooden floor. It burned bright red, whispering her name.

“Adanne... Adanne... Adanne…”

She screamed and slammed the door shut.

The whispers didn’t stop.

They grew louder, as if coming from within her own mind.

The photograph in her pocket began to warm.

She pulled it out. Her mother’s eyes glowed.

Adanne sank to the floor, shaking.

Was she cursed?

Or chosen?

She closed her eyes, tears running down her face. She whispered, “Mama, what did you leave behind?”

The candle flame she had lit earlier flickered... then went out.

And the room went cold.

THE WOMAN IN MY APARTMENT KNOWS THINGS I NEVER TOLD ANYONE

CHAPTER 1

I heard her whisper my name through the wall.

“Ikenna.”

Soft. Slow. Like she’d always known it.

But I never told her my name.

We moved in three days ago.

I’ve never spoken to her.

I paused. Put down my spoon.

Silence.

Maybe I was hearing things.

Then she said it again.

“Ikenna... I know you’re there.”

My hand tightened around the spoon.

Who was she?

I got up. Opened the window.

Her light was on. Curtains drawn. Still.

I stepped back.

Maybe I needed sleep.

That night, I locked all the windows. Double-checked the doors.

Morning came. No whisper. No sound.

By noon, I was laughing at myself. Paranoia.

I went downstairs to buy bread.

And she was standing at the gate.

Slim. Brown-skinned. Big eyes. Hoodie. No smile.

“Good morning,” she said.

I nodded. Tried to pass.

“Ikenna,” she said.

I froze.

“How do you know my name?” I asked.

She tilted her head. “You told me. That night on the bus.”

“I’ve never met you,” I said.

She blinked. “You don’t remember.”

I stared at her. “No. I don’t.”

She smiled this small, broken smile. “That’s okay. You will.”

Then she walked past me and climbed the stairs.

I didn’t move. Didn’t blink.

There was no night bus.

I came here in a truck.

Alone.

That night, I locked everything again. This time, I left the light on.

At 2:17 AM, I woke up sweating.

Someone had written on my wall.

“You snore when you’re scared.”

I screamed.

Ran out. Banged on the landlord’s door.

He came out, half-asleep. “What is it?”

“That girl!” I shouted. “From apartment 7B!”

He frowned. “Who?”

“The girl next door! Slim! Brown skin! Hoodie!”

He looked at me for a long time. Then he said slowly,

“Ikenna… 7B has been empty for two years.”

Ɓiko, if this chapter doesn't get your engagements, there won't be chapter 2.

ᴛʜᴇ ᴊᴏᴜʀɴᴇʏ ᴏꜰ ʜᴇᴀʀᴛʙʀᴇᴀᴋ ᴀɴᴅ ʜᴇᴀʟɪɴɢ ( ᴇᴘɪꜱᴏᴅᴇ 5 )

As the months went by, David and Emmanuella spent more time together. They often stayed after school to discuss lessons or talk about life. David was careful not to overstep his boundaries, knowing he was still recovering from his heartbreak with T**i. But as they talked more, David started to realize how much he enjoyed Emmanuella’s company. She was understanding and gentle, and she listened to him without judgment.

One day, Emmanuella confessed that she admired David for his dedication to teaching and the way he cared for his students. She appreciated his honesty and kindness, which was rare to find in people. David, feeling a sense of warmth in his chest, smiled. For the first time in a long while, he felt seen, appreciated, and valued. He realized that the possibility of love wasn’t completely out of reach.

David’s relationship with Emmanuella continued to grow. It wasn’t romantic yet, but David could feel the foundation of something beautiful forming. He wasn’t ready to fall in love again so soon, but he was learning how to open his heart to friendship and companionship once more. Emmanuella had a way of making him laugh and feel lighter, even on his toughest days.

One evening, as they sat together watching the sunset, Emmanuella turned to him with a thoughtful expression. “David, I know you’ve been through a lot,” she said softly. “But I can see how much you’ve given to others. You deserve to be happy too.”

David looked at her, surprised by her words. For the first time since T**i had left, he felt like someone understood him. He wasn’t sure where this new chapter would lead, but he was no longer afraid to explore it.

Just when David thought he was finally moving forward, T**i unexpectedly came back into his life. She arrived in the village one afternoon, looking much different than before. She was no longer the sweet, innocent girl he had once loved; now, she appeared confident and polished, almost as if she were a different person entirely.

T**i apologized for everything, telling David that she had made a mistake by leaving him. She admitted that she had been caught up in the luxury and comfort of a wealthy life with Emeka, but it hadn’t made her happy. “David,” she said, “I was foolish. I realize now that I can never have what we once had, no matter how much money I have.”

David listened, but his heart felt heavy. He didn’t know how to respond. He had spent so much time mending his heart, and now, T**i’s return brought back old wounds.

David spent the entire night thinking about T**i’s return. He wasn’t angry with her. Instead, he felt a deep sadness that he couldn’t shake. He had loved her with all his heart, and now, she was back, asking for forgiveness. But how could he forgive her after everything he had gone through?

The next day, David met with T**i in the quiet park by the village. “I can’t pretend like nothing happened,” David said gently. “I gave you everything, T**i. My heart, my savings, everything. But you left me. I don’t know if I can just forget that.”

T**i’s eyes filled with tears. “I understand,” she whispered. “I don’t expect you to forgive me right away. I just want you to know that I was wrong.”

David took a deep breath, his heart aching. “I can’t go back to the way things were,” he said. “I’ve moved on. And I’ve learned that sometimes love is not enough to hold everything together.”

As David continued to reflect on his past with T**i, he found himself drawn closer to Emmanuella. She had always been a steady presence in his life, offering him kindness and patience when he needed it most. But T**i’s return had shaken him, and David found himself questioning his feelings for Emmanuella.

One evening, Emmanuella noticed the distance between them and asked David if everything was alright. David hesitated before speaking. “I’m just… confused. T**i came back, and it’s hard not to think about what happened.”

Emmanuella nodded, her eyes filled with understanding. “I know it’s not easy,” she said. “But I’m here for you, no matter what. You don’t have to make any decisions right away.”

ᴛʜᴇ ᴊᴏᴜʀɴᴇʏ ᴏꜰ ʜᴇᴀʀᴛʙʀᴇᴀᴋ ᴀɴᴅ ʜᴇᴀʟɪɴɢ ( ᴇᴘɪꜱᴏᴅᴇ 4 )

David spent long hours thinking about love and what it truly meant. He had learned the painful lesson that sometimes, no matter how much you sacrifice, it doesn’t guarantee that love will be returned.

In the quiet of his home, David cried for the first time in years, not for the loss of T**i, but for the realization that he had placed his worth in someone who couldn’t see it.

After weeks of heartache, David started to accept that T**i was gone, and there was nothing he could do to bring her back. He couldn’t change the way she felt, and he couldn’t force her to love him. It was a painful truth, but it was one he had to face.

David began to focus on his work again. He poured his energy into teaching his students, trying to ignore the emptiness he felt inside. Every now and then, he would hear rumors about T**i and Emeka – about their lavish lifestyle and the places they were visiting. But David did his best to push those thoughts away. He had to move on, even though it felt like a part of him would always be missing.

David's life slowly began to return to a sense of normalcy. He focused all his attention on his work as a teacher. He found comfort in the familiar routine, teaching his students and watching them grow. The kids adored him, and he became a role model for many. They were unaware of the storm in his heart, and that was just how David wanted it.

Teaching gave David purpose, but it didn’t completely erase the sadness that lingered inside him. He often found himself reminiscing about the good times he had shared with T**i, her laughter, and the way her eyes would light up when she talked about her dreams. But he knew now that he had to focus on the present, not the past. Life had moved on, and so must he.

One bright afternoon, as David was teaching his class, a new student arrived at the school. Her name was Emmanuella, and she was from a nearby village. Emmanuella was bright, kind, and full of life. She was different from T**i, but there was something about her that made David feel a little spark of hope.

Emmanuella had an infectious smile that lit up the room, and her enthusiasm for learning was contagious. David found himself looking forward to their interactions. She reminded him of a simpler time, before everything had become complicated with T**i. Emmanuella had a warmth about her that made David want to be a better person. Over time, they became friends, and David began to realize that maybe, just maybe, there was a chance for him to love again.
