There is a GOD.
As a group here in the market, on the 17th of April, we attended the burial of one of us who lost his father earlier this year. It was in an 18 seater hias bus. The route to the village is the popular ABAKPA-OPI ROAD. A road popularly known for too many K!dnapping stories. As a result, we left early. We met too many police check points and that brought calm to us all. It was a two hours drive.
We finally got there and finished with the burial. Time was 3:49 pm. Perfect. Happy, we made our way home. The plan was to get home before sundown. Everything was going just fine until our driver ran into a huge bump. It was staggering. It had every one shook and complaining. He apologized and we continued. Few minutes later, the bus suddenly began to overheat. Something that didn't happen when we were going. At first, it wasn't much of a bother until we stopped every ten minutes to refill the radiator.
Closing in around the main OPI junction, the bus stopped again. Darkness was gradually closing in and we were yet to cross the dreaded part of that route. That was our main target. To cross that part before darkness. The part were those wayward boys abducts People. No one was happy. Luckily, we saw a mechanic shop by the road side and pushed it in. The machanic guy promised it will be done in twenty minutes. Time was 6:10 pm. No one was happy. Same with the weather. The cloud was gathering.
Twenty minutes stretched into two and half hours and we found ourselves eagerly directing our flashlights to the mechanic who was doing his best trying to fix our radiator. Apparently our radiotor took a hit when our driver ran into that bump. Thirteen of us, stranded and watching other cars make their way home. Omo. We couldn't stop thinking of those demons lurking in the shadow. We were so worried.
After much effort, the mechanic patched the radiator. Time was 8:47 pm. We settled him, thanked God and made our way home. All these while, our phones rang. Everyone was calling their loved ones to know the update. We got to find out that our head lamp wasn't as bright as expected. That brought more worry. We drove in that rain, praying and singing. The cars on the road were scanty. Omo. We kept peeking into the bushes, hoping no one comes out of it. We didn't meet any security agents until we finally got to Ugwogo roundabout. That was when the bus broke down again. Bro! As soon as God brought us through that dreaded part, the radiator failed again and wouldn't start..
The question we kept asking ourselves was, what would have happened if that bus broke down in the thick of that trap. Omo! God is Great.
