*_STRENGTHENING APC'S GRASSROOTS PRESENCE IN ENUGU STATE: A CALL TO ACTION..._*
Ahead of the 2027 general election, it is crucial for the All Progressives Congress (APC) to maintain its relevance and vibrancy in Enugu State. Despite the challenges and controversies that have beset the party, APC's continued relevance is essential for the state's democracy and progress.
APC's presence ensures a robust opposition in Enugu State, which is vital for a healthy democracy. As the major opposition party in the state, there is a need to carry out necessary checks on the ruling party, preventing the concentration of power and promoting accountability.
The party has significant followers in Enugu State, with many supporters who are passionate about the party's ideas and committed to its success. By staying relevant, APC can continue to mobilize and engage these supporters, fostering a sense of community and political participation.
As one who is ready to seize power democratically, the party must maintain a consistent presence and ring its name aloud always, reminding its followers of the readiness to take over power during elections, whether in good or bad times. This consistent presence will help build trust and loyalty among supporters and attract new members who share the party's values. The current state government cannot accommodate or satisfy all its members; hence, we must remain the only choice for such people who are willing and ready to see the light.
As the party provides a platform for political leaders and aspirants to emerge, debate, and contest ideas, ensuring a dynamic and inclusive political process, this equally reflects its readiness to dominate.
To further strengthen APC's grassroots presence in Enugu State, the party should:
1. Establish a strong, visible presence in local communities through regular town hall meetings, rallies, and community engagement programs.
2. Develop and implement initiatives that address the specific needs and concerns of grassroots supporters, such as economic empowerment programs, education, and healthcare support, and infrastructure development projects. This includes giving firsthand information about every government opportunity and equally helping to facilitate to ensure they are beneficiaries.
3. Foster a culture of inclusivity and participation, encouraging grassroots supporters to take ownership of the party's agenda and contribute to decision-making processes.
4. Provide training and capacity-building programs for grassroots leaders and supporters, empowering them to become effective advocates and ambassadors for the party.
5. Leverage social media and other digital platforms to engage with grassroots supporters, share party news and updates, and promote party ideas and values.
6. Collaborate with local organizations, community groups, and civil society organizations to amplify the party's message and build alliances with like-minded stakeholders.
7. Celebrate the party's achievements and milestones, particularly those of Mr. President, recognizing the contributions and sacrifices of grassroots supporters and leaders.
By implementing these and other strategies, APC will revitalize its grassroots presence in the state, build a stronger, more resilient party, and ensure a brighter future for the people of Enugu State.
