Esteemed Colleagues,
Our Alma Mater, the Department of Accounting, University of Benin will be marking the 40th Year
Anniversary of the establishment of the department. The event will also serve as a platform to
reunite all the graduates of the department since inception to date.
The event is slated for Friday, 11th February 2022, with a welcome reception cocktail on the evening
of Thursday, 10th February 2022. A very robust anniversary celebration/ reunion programme has
been put together by the department in collaboration with the Alumni association. It promises to be
very exciting!
The high point of the anniversary will be the launch of infrastructure projects required by the
department:
1. Five lecture theatres with 300-seating capacity each
2. 20 Professorial Offices, and
3. 18-seater Bus to be branded. "Department of Accounting Alumni Bus"
The estimated project cost is in the region of =N=400 million, to be executed in Three phases.
As a way of giving back to our alma mater, I want to encourage each member of the alumni and each
graduating set to not only participate actively in all the programme activities but contribute
generously toward the actualisation of the project and/or adopt a project.
I count on your support in achieving the lofty goal of energising our department/ University and
preparing it for future readiness. It would be greatly appreciated if you could support by placing
advertisement and/or goodwill messages in the anniversary brochure.
