So, who exactly is Theresa Onuoha?

Theresa Onuoha is a renowned Nigerian highlife musician, dancer, and composer. She is the founder of the famous Egedege Dance Group. With various titles to her name, such as The Queen of Culture, Queen of Unubi, Queen of Egedege Music, and Onu Ejiri Mara Mba, she has made a significant impact in the music world.

Born on January 9, 1942, in Unubi, Anambra State, Nigeria, Theresa inherited her passion for music from her father, a local egwu ekpili musician and traditionist who had gained fame in his village.

Theresa began singing at a young age and released her first album at the age of 34 in 1976.
Some of her popular albums include "Oba egwu," "Onwanwa mu na chimo," "Ogene Ekwubego mu na onye ga-agba egwu," and "Ebelebe egbuonu O." In 1985, she formed the Egedege Dance group. The name "Egedege" derives from the her Igbo native slang for richness and bravery, reflecting the dance's status as a cultural classic performed exclusively in royal or affluent households. The dance group travels throughout Eastern Nigeria and beyond, performing at grand occasions such as weddings, festivals, and funerals of wealthy people.

Theresa's unique Ogene melody, ancient yet melodious voice, and stylish Egedege dance have set her apart in the music industry. In October 2021, she was featured in the song "Egedege" by Larry Gaaga alongside Flavour N' abania and Phyno.

Theresa is married to Godwin Igboebisi, and she has two grown sons. It is worth mentioning that she also had a previous relationship with Chief Pericoma Mezuo Okoye, a Nigerian singer, songwriter, and traditionist, and they have a child together named Speed Darlington (Akpi).

Speed Darlington is now a singer, dancer, and songwriter based in the United States.

Yul Edochie, born Yul Chibuike Daniel Edochie in 1982, isn't just another Nollywood actor. He's royalty, both by surname and by talent. Named after the iconic Russian actor Yul Brynner, Yul is the son of legendary Nollywood icon Pete Edochie, making him a true scion of cinematic excellence.

Meet Rear Admiral Emmanuel Ikechukwu Ogalla, the newly appointed Chief of Naval Staff.
Born on December 20, 1968, in Umuopu Enugu Ezike, Igbo Eze North LGA of Enugu State, Nigeria, he has an impressive educational and professional background.

Ogalla excelled academically, graduating as the best boy in Sciences from NMS Zaria in June 1987.
He obtained his WASC with A1 in all subjects except English language. He joined the 39 RC NDA and graduated with a BSc in Maths, earning the prestigious sword of honor as the best naval cadet in his course.

He started his career as a S Lt on Sep 16, 1992, and has since been promoted to Rear Admiral, a position he has held since Sep 16, 2021.

Throughout his career, Ogalla has served on various ships, including NNS AMBE, ARADU, LANA, EKUN, AGU, QUORRA, BEECROFT, DELTA, and PATHFINDER.

Notably, he participated in the ECOMOG Operations in Liberia in 1996 while serving on board NNS EKUN. As the Base operations officer in NNS PATHFINDER, he successfully coordinated anti-illegal bunkering operations and policing duties, resulting in a significant reduction of illegal activities within the base area of operations.

Rear Admiral Ogalla's achievements have earned him several prestigious decorations, including FSS, MSS, DSS, and GSS.

He is a member of various professional organizations, such as the Nigerian Hydrographic Society, Nigerian Institute of Management, and the International Earth Rotation Services.

He is also a fellow of the Occupational Safety and Health Association of the UK.

Ogalla is happily married to Mrs Ijeoma Ogalla, and they have two children.

Igbo New Year Celebration, Igu Aro Igbo!

Two major Festivals celebrated by the Igbo people are the Igbo New Year festival (Igu Aro), due around mid February, the planting season when the king, or elder from each tribe in ìgbo land tells the Igbo to go and sow their seed after the next rainfall, and the Harvest festival (Emume Ọnwa-asatọ) in the eighth month.

The Igbo yearly counting celebration known as Igu Aro was marked on the 3rd week of February as the beginning of the year of ndị Igbo. Our new year will start on the 3rd week of February,.

The Igbo Lunar calendar is based on the 13 lunar months of 28 days each plus one extra day known as “a year and a day”.

Each of these months is made up of seven Igbo weeks “izu asaa”, each “izu” is made up of four market days: Eke, Orie, Afo and Nkwo.

The appearance of the full moon in February, 2023 will marks the beginning of the Igbo lunar Calendar.

These are the 13 Months In The Igbo Lunar Calender:

1- Ọnwa Mbụ (3rd week of February)
2- Ọnwa Abụo (March)

EBUKA OBI-UCHENDU.

Chukwuebuka Obi-Uchendu is a Nigerian-Igbo lawyer and media personality from Okija in Anambra State, Nigeria.
He is known for hosting the reality show Big Brother Naija, the long running Rubbin' Minds talk show on Channels TV as well as co-hosting The Spot and Men's Corner on Ebonylife television.

Born in Benin City, Edo State to a banker father and a mother who is a nurse, he is the third of four children. He went through with his nursery and primary education in the mid-western Nigerian city of Benin.

He had his secondary education at Christ The King College Abuja, graduating in 1997, before getting his university education at the University of Abuja, up until 2004.
He proceeded to the Nigerian Law School Bwari, Abuja finishing in 2005, graduating in December 2010 from the Washington College of Law of the American University Washington D.C., with Master of Laws degree specializations in Intellectual Property as well as Communications law from the Law and Government program.

In 2006, he went in as one of an eventual 14 housemates on the first season of the popular reality show Big Brother Nigeria, finishing in eighth place.

Till date, he is one of the most visibly successful BBN 2006 cast members.

In January 2017, he was announced as the host of the second season of Big Brother Naija as well as the third season.
After the reality show in 2006, he signed endorsement deals with a major telecommunications brand as well as a popular brewing company and as such hosted Friend or Foeon NTA, the GLO Show, also on NTA, as well as Guinness' Greatness TV.

He also maintained a weekly column called Contrast with a Nigerian national daily newspaper, This Day.

Col. Amanda Azubuike was last weekend promoted to Brig. General of the US Army.

Amanda was born in the UK to an Igbo father from Ideato in Imo state. Both parents are late. Out of 1.2 million men and women of the US Army, only 300 made it to the high ranking positions of which she was meritoriously among.

Chiwete Ejiofor, Igbo American one of Igbo America in Hollywood

Ejiofor was born in London's Forest Gate, to upper middle-class Nigerian parents of Igbo descent. His father, Arinze, was a doctor, and his mother, Obiajulu, was a pharmacist.
His younger sister, Zain Asher, is a CNN correspondent.

He has received numerous acting awards and nominations, including the BAFTA Orange Rising Star Award in 2006, five Golden Globe Award nominations, and the Laurence Olivier Award for Best Actor for his performance in Othello in 2008. In 2008, Ejiofor was presented with an OBE by Queen Elizabeth II for services to the arts.
