In the heart of Alaleka village, where the sun dipped into the horizon and painted the sky with hues of orange and pink, Agbenu, a curious young girl, lived a simple life with her parents, Otsepa and Ajeh. Her father, a skilled farmer, and her mother, a talented weaver, loved and supported her. But there was a mystery surrounding Ogbu, a powerful man feared and respected by the villagers. No one knew the source of his power, but whispers spoke of his ability to command the elements. Agbenu's curiosity was piqued, and she began to wonder... What secrets lay hidden in the shadows of Alaleka? One night, she decided to follow Ogbu, her heart racing with anticipation and fear.

As she trailed behind him, the moon casting long shadows on the ground, Agbenu stumbled upon a hidden path she had never seen before. The air was thick with an otherworldly energy, and she felt a shiver run down her spine. Ogbu stopped at the riverbank, and Agbenu watched from behind a tree, her breath caught in her throat. I'm reminded of a concerning cultural practice that I'd like to inquire about. A friend of mine recently lost their father, who passed away at the ripe age of 95. Despite the deceased's advanced age and the family's limited financial support for him during his lifetime, the family has deposited his body in the mortuary for over six months.

What's troubling is the creation of a committee, ostensibly to oversee the burial arrangements, which has resulted in significant financial burdens being placed on the family members. My friend, one of five siblings, has been asked to contribute a substantial sum of ₦600,000 as their share of the costs. Additional expenses for uniforms, security, souvenir, and other logistics have also been levied.

This situation raises questions about the efficacy and fairness of certain cultural traditions. It's striking that the family seemed to prioritize elaborate burial ceremonies over supporting their father during his lifetime, when he reportedly struggled with basic needs.
