🇳🇬 Celebrating Nigeria at 66! 🇳🇬

Today, we celebrate Nigeria’s 66th Independence Anniversary and the rich cultural heritage that continues to shape our identity as a nation.

At RE-ORG Nigeria, we remain committed to supporting museums and heritage institutions in caring for, organising, documenting and safeguarding collections for present and future generations.

Our cultural heritage is more than what we inherit from the past, it is a responsibility we share today and a legacy we pass on to tomorrow.

May Nigeria continue to grow, preserve its diverse heritage, and create opportunities for its people.

Happy 66th Independence Anniversary, Nigeria! 🇳🇬💚🤍💚

The two latest issues of Museum International, ’s academic journal, focused on provenance research. To continue the discussion and share best practices, ICOM is organising a webinar bringing together the editors and several authors from both issues.

💬 Speakers will explore provenance research across different types of collections and discuss its main challenges and implications, particularly for collections acquired in colonial contexts. The webinar will also look at how museums and governing bodies can support and promote provenance research.

Today we're featuring "Inert Gases in the Control of Museum Insect Pests" https://gty.art/2ZPN4T2

A serious problem facing museum professionals is the protection of collections from damage due to insects. This book describes successful insect eradication procedures developed at the GCI and elsewhere, whereby objects are held in an atmosphere of either nitrogen or argon containing less than 1000 ppm of oxygen—a process known as anoxia or oxygen deprivation—or in an atmosphere of more than 60 percent carbon dioxide.

Topics covered include the biological mechanisms by which nontoxic gases kill insects; methods and materials needed to create and maintain an anoxic atmosphere; and procedures for treating objects.
