"The Mirror in the Garden"
In the heart of a forgotten village, where the mist hung like an old memory, lived a boy named Jack. Unlike the other children, Jack never laughed at the sun or chased fireflies at dusk. He wandered alone, clutching a tattered book that had no words, only blank pages that seemed to whisper when the wind blew.
One day, while roaming beyond the elderberry trees, Jack stumbled upon a hidden garden,untouched by time, blooming with colors he had never seen before. In its center stood a mirror, framed by vines and breathing like something alive. Drawn to it, Jack approached and saw not his reflection, but a different boy,brighter, bolder, full of purpose.
The mirror spoke.
"You are what could be."
Jack flinched. "And who am I now?"
"A shadow of your longing. But I can show you the truth."
Each day after, Jack returned. The mirror offered glimpses of a life filled with laughter, strength, and courage. It made him question the blank pages of his book and whether they waited for him to write his own story.
Years passed, and the village grew darker, forgetting itself. Jack stayed in the garden, feeding off the visions, always waiting for the day he’d become the boy in the mirror.But the mirror never opened, only showed.
One evening,he finally turned away.
The garden withered behind him.
Back in his village,Jack sat beneath a dying tree. He opened his book,still blank,but this time,he wrote one word: Now.
Then he whispered to the wind, I don’t need the mirror anymore.I don’t need the garden.I only need the will to begin.And that is the piece of me I forgot.The piece I lost.The piece I now remember.The piece which I need.
Moral;
Chasing an ideal version of yourself can blind you to the power you already have in the present.
The story reminds us that constantly dreaming of what we could be without ever acting can trap us in illusion.True growth begins not in waiting for a perfect reflection,but in choosing to act now,even imperfectly.
