🤩 Ilkay Gündoğan first words as Barça player
🎙️ Gündoğan: “It’s a dream come true. I remember when I was a kid, I used to watch Barça from the days of Frank Rijkaard and then Pep Guardiola. I’m a Barça fan, I’ve always followed them closely every season and I am very happy and very proud to be part of this team.”
🎙️ Gündoğan: “I expect good football. I think there is a lot of potential in the team with very young players and I think that with my experience I can help them reach their next level.”
🎙️ Gündoğan: “I hope to bring a lot of experience and quality to the midfield. I came with a lot of motivation and experience.. I can play offensively and defensively.”
🎙️ Gündoğan: “What only remains to be demonstrated in this season is why I have come, and that is why I will make an effort and put my dedication to be able to enjoy it. I will give my 100%.”
🎙️ Gündoğan on his qualities: “As I said, I think I can bring a lot of experience to the team, but obviously there is a lot of quality in Barça’s midfield. I can adapt to different roles – defensive & offensive. I am a player who likes to have the ball, which I think is something very important to be a Barça player, because of their style of play.”
🎙️ Gündoğan: “I always do my best and put my best efforts to help the team as much as possible, because in the end, individuals can help but what matters is the team.”
🎙️ Gündoğan on his conversation with Xavi: “I spoke with him several times before signing and I think we thought of football in the same way, the same as when he was a player and as I am now. I think our way of thinking and our characters are similar, I had a great connection with him.”
🎙️ Gündoğan: “Well, it means a lot to me, it’s a great opportunity for me to continue growing and improving as a player.”
🤝 The German has already spoken with Xavi several times, and believes that both understand football in the same way. In Barcelona he will meet Ter Stegen, teammates, and Lewandowski, former teammates at Borussia Dortmund, with whom he has already spoken and have reinforced his idea of wanting to come to Barça.
