Land Rover Owners Namibia

Land Rover Owners Namibia The club shall have the following objectives;
To bring together owners of Land Rover vehicles. To pro To celebrate the outgoing defender.

I’m going to greet you all with a wave today known to most land rover owners as the landy wave. WAVE

From humble beginnings in the sand on a beach in England to the 2 millionth Defender being built this month (June 2015). We all are here because of our love of a brand which invokes passion in our hearts, and yes all land rovers’ has a soul. I'm going to quote Albert Pretorius from Jaguar Land rov

er QUOTE “there used to be a time where we would have sold a land rover in khaki shorts with a Leatherman on the belt land rover standing axle twisted on the on the showroom floor, to where we are today selling the most luxurious 4x4’s in a suit and tie” UNQUOTE

This just shows you how the Land Rover has evolved through the years and this heritage and growth we want to carry forward to the club, we want to cater for all land rover enthusiasts. We saw it fitting to divide the club into three categories based on the vehicles suspension. LEAFERS being the oldies

COILERS being the defenders up to the disco 2 classic range rovers and P38’s

INDEPENDANTS being all the new models including the free landers

Most of the entire club should be to bring together family and friends without any political drawbacks which haunts most of motor clubs in Namibia. We are also busy with an affiliation with ALRC the Association of Land Rover Clubs in England; this affiliation will open other avenues for the club. We have a lot of ideas from organising events and more, but this will only be possible if we all join hands and work together. Later this year we will see the end of the iconic look of the land rover after 66 years in production. There has been as suggestion from future members that we get a convoy together and travel to South Africa and join the LANDY FESTIVAL at Soetdoring, where we as LAND ROVER OWNERS NAMIBIA can join in the longest convoy and a land rover badge made up of land rovers. I can keep on talking about all the future plans and ideas so I will end my introduction now. Welcome again everybody enjoy and most of all have fun, because this is why we are here.

👉 Did you know....
Some people spend their weekends at the mall❗
Our members❓ They drive into the middle of nowhere to re-erect a solar panel, ensuring continued water supply for wildlife and communities ❗👌😊

The Land Rover Owners Namibia crew 🙆‍♂️🙅‍♂️🙋‍♂️🚙🚐 headed back to the remote Farmstead of De Rust near the Brandberg to finish what was started the previous weekend. With the concrete around the solar panel pole finally cured, it was time to get that toppled solar panel back to where it belongs to ensure the water 💦 keeps flowing for wildlife, livestock, and the people who call this incredible place home.

This isn't a new story either. Back in 2019, LRON sponsored and installed the solar-powered water 💧pump and panels that continue to provide one of life's greatest luxuries in the arid Damaraland, WATER.💦

This weekend's motto.

Because sometimes the best recovery 🚨 isn't a stuck vehicle ... it's rescuing a solar panel. ⛑

a well as:
Mission accomplished? ✅
Braai lit? ✅
Campfire stories told? ✅
Slept under a million stars? ✅
Land Rovers slightly dustier than before❓ Absolutely. ✅

Not all heroes wear capes… some drive Land Rovers. 😉🚙

Last weekend, a dedicated team from Land Rover Owners Namibia (LRON), along with some helping hands, headed back to the remote Farmstead De Rust near the Brandberg, where in 2019, Land Rover Owners Namibia had sponsored and installed a water pump as well as solar panels, ensuring that wildlife, animals and residents had access to much needed water.

After a couple of issues with stolen or broken water pumps over the years, it is now the pole of the solar panel that needed attention.

Constant desert winds had the top-heavy solar panels dancing just a little too enthusiastically, eventually wearing away the galvanising at ground level until the pole finally gave up and took a 'nap'.

The good news? The toppled solar panels escaped without a scratch, and the pump simply carried on doing what it does best. Even lying flat on the ground, the panels soaked up enough Namibian sunshine to keep the water flowing and the dam full. Now that's dedication! ☀️💧

The repair crew is making sure history doesn't repeat itself by strengthening the installation, tidying up the plumbing, and fitting level switches to prevent water wastage.

And because no successful Land Rover mission is complete without a proper ending, the team wrapped it all up with a Braai (BBQ).

Curious about what else Land Rover Owners Namibia gets up to? Pop over to our website and have a look: https://www.lrovernam.com/

Because sometimes, the best adventures aren't about where the road ends… they're about making sure there's water when you get there.
