Join us on Tuesday for the screening of three locally produced films and Sip and chat with the heavyweights who dominated the Namibian Theatre and Film Awards — Hazel Hinda (Best Female Actor), Sonje Fraser (Best Production Design) and the creatives behind the films: Ndakalako Shilongo (Momeya – Writer & Director), Imãn Ayisha (The B2 Passage – Writer & Producer) and Jenny Kandenge (Tsek – Writer & Producer). Dreaming New Worlds 2026 is open!

We're inviting multidisciplinary collectives across Africa to apply for a year-long program at the intersection of art, technology, and governance.

This year's theme, Codes of Conduct, asks how programming technology reshapes leadership, belonging, and systems of organisation across African societies.

With four nodes, four sub-themes, one pan-African conversation:
• Ethics of Power: Tanzania, Kenya, Togo
• Building Distributed Networks: Nigeria, Ethiopia, Burkina Faso
• Feminist & Ecological Governance: South Africa, Ghana, Côte d'Ivoire
• Techno-Political Futures: Namibia, Rwanda, Angola

We invite collectives to engage with the subtheme, with a creative tech prototype, learning from the cultures of our sister countries to this project.

Selected collectives receive a €3,000 grant to develop prototypes, participate in Labs, and contribute to public programming.

We are proud to announce that Namibian theatre-maker Ndayola Ulenga has been selected for the prestigious Theatertreffen International Forum in Berlin, Germany.

The Forum is part of the Berlin Theatertreffen, one of the world’s leading theatre festivals, bringing together artists from across the globe for exchange, workshops, and critical dialogue on contemporary performance.

Ndayola Ulenga is an actress, playwright, performance artist, and co-founder of NU Theatrics. Her work explores Namibian identity, memory, and lived experience through productions such as KoKo and The Wasp, for which she received a Namibian Theatre and Film Award (NTFA) for Best Director in Theatre.

Her selection marks a significant moment for Namibian theatre on the international stage.

We congratulate her and wish her an inspiring journey in Berlin.

OPEN: Grants for Artists and Creatives

We are inviting artists and creative practioners across all art disciplines from Botswana, Eswatini, Lesotho, Nambia, South Africa and Zimbabwe to apply for grants under the Africa-Europe Partnerships for Culture: Southern Africa component.

Selected participants will receive a €6,000 to work and collaborate with a Heritage Narrative Cluster in coproducing engaging and creative works.

Since 1951, the Goethe-Institut is connecting people across borders. What began 75 years ago is now a global network for encounters, dialogue and cultural cooperation. And it is more important than ever, particularly in times of global conflict and polarisation.

Around the world, our Goethe-Instituts create spaces where people can engage in conversation, learn from one another and explore new avenues together. This is where projects, collaborations and initiatives emerge that strengthen trust and facilitate dialogue through the power of culture.

In our anniversary year, 2026, we will look back on these stories and encounters, whilst also demonstrating how language, culture and education continue to build bridges and shape the future today.

Through events and personal stories from all over the world, we will celebrate the diversity of our work and the people who shape it.
