Muzokumwe Forum was the best idea or the best ideological platform at the time.
The myth behind Muzokumwe was constructive and balanced. At the same time, no one was asking a lot of questions regarding their mission and vision. I can remember very well that during the Muzokumwe forums, they voiced concerns about how the Kavango people were excluded by the Namibian government when it came to the highest appointments in the country, especially in key positions such as ambassadors and ministers. Our voice reached all four corners of the country. Even the late president responded to these issues.
No one can deny that we, the Kavango people, are being left behind in terms of national projects, and the budget allocated to the Kavango regions is less than it should be. The government is aware of this, but implementing solutions to address the concerns of the Kavango people remains a big challenge. Whom should we blame? Should we blame ourselves, or should we blame the government that seems to be turning its back on us? Or do we still have hope in the current SWAPO government? These are the questions we are supposed to re-examine and come up with one unified solution.
One umbrella means that all the inhabitants of the Kavango regions must stand in one direction. The problem holding the Kavango people back is the failure of some politicians who want to grab every opportunity for themselves just to survive. These are the same people running churches with false prophets. They are the same ones who come and mobilise people to join their forums, only to later turn them into political parties. I am not against that, but the question is: how many political parties are we going to form to fight for all Kavangos to have a strong voice?
Let us re-examine that point. You can see that we do not like each other, that is why we do not have one unified voice to send to our government or to Parliament.
We have cowardly failed leaders who want to confuse the people in our community. Pohamba’s era is gone. Hage Geingob, the useless president in our lifetime, is gone.
Poverty, hunger, and power form a dangerous weapon in any society. I think you get my point. Let us focus on a development agenda that will make Kavango sustainable in terms of job creation and much more.
Even though sustainable development is also a myth in itself, let us do what the call is urging all of us to do.
Let us forget the Bantustan mentality or ideology. Let us look forward and work with the current government administration.
They hear our cry. Projects are landing in both Kavango regions. Our Prime Minister is working hard to make sure the Uvhungu-Vhungu dairy farm is opened. After that, our watermelon factories are about to commence. The new dam water is about to reach the entire Kavango regions. What are we still crying for? Let us give time to Madam Netumbo Nandi-Ndaitwah’s administration. Our problems will not be solved in one day, but in the days to come.
Kangamba politics will not succeed. We must expose them one by one. The time has come. Let us work hard and build our lives for the better, not for the worse.
