🎈 Penang Goes We.Play: Let's talk about play

What if play isn't the opposite of serious learning — but the very heart of it?

This Saturday, we're hosting a FREE webinar with Hayley Peacock, creator of Playoneering®️ and an internationally recognised educator who has inspired teachers across more than 22 countries. For over 15 years, she's challenged conventional education through children's rights, enquiry-led learning and playful rigour.

She'll be sharing "Playoneering in Primary and Early Years — with playful rigour, enquiry and character education" — a conversation for anyone who believes children learn best when they're curious, engaged and joyful. Whether you're an educator or a parent, you're warmly invited. 💛

When did your child last play just for the joy of it? 🌿

Not a class. Not a lesson. Not a screen. Just free, messy, made-up, follow-your-curiosity play — the kind that builds confidence, creativity and problem-solving without anyone even noticing it's "learning."

That's the heart of Penang Goes WePlay this June. And we'd love your family to be part of it. 💛

WhyteHouse is opening FREE Weekend Public We.Play Sessions — a semi-outdoor space where children can explore unstructured play, risky play and loose parts play, and simply be kids. WhyteHouse Education Group

One of our We.Play schools recently transformed their play space into a pretend cooking restaurant using We.Play loose parts and blocks — and the children did the rest. 💛

With open-ended materials, children creatively built:
🪑 tables and chairs
🍲 cooking stoves
🔪 cutting stations
🥘 preparation counters
…and even their own little restaurant setup!

What looks like “just play” is actually rich learning happening naturally through imagination, collaboration, communication, problem-solving, creativity, and hands-on exploration.

This is the beauty of open-ended play materials:
✨ One material, endless possibilities.
✨ No fixed outcome, unlimited creativity.
✨ Children become creators, thinkers, and storytellers.

We.Play materials are not toys with only one purpose — they become whatever children imagine them to be. That is where deep learning begins. 🌱

To preschools and educators:
Sometimes the most meaningful learning spaces are not fully prepared by adults, but created by children themselves.

World Forum on Early Care and Education 2026

It’s a wrap!

🇲🇾Malaysia had the honour of hosting the World Forum on Early Care and Education (WOFO) 2026, welcoming over 650 delegates from more than 50 countries — all coming together with a shared belief: that play is not just important, it is essential.

At Team WhyteHouse, we were privileged to host delegates at our very own WE.PLAY experience at SEGi College Subang. Through play, we connected, explored, and reimagined what meaningful learning can look like for every child.

We were also deeply honoured to receive His Highness Tengku Amir Shah Ibni Sultan Sharafuddin Idris Shah Al-Haj, Crown Prince of Selangor, at our Pop-Up WePlay during WOFO. Your kind words reaffirm our commitment to championing play as the foundation of early education.

Daulat Tuanku.

A heartfelt thank you to our Local Chairperson, Anne, for making this possible. And to Team WOFO — thank you for including us in this important global movement to bring play back to where it belongs: at the heart of childhood.

How is We.Play different?

Many environments today include elements of play.

We.Play by WhyteHouse focuses on continuity — where children return to their ideas over time, deepen their thinking, and build on their experiences.

It is not about one moment of play, but sustained learning through play.

This is where the difference lies.
