UNMC Literature and Drama Society The UNM Literature and Drama Society, aiming to promote literary and theatre culture among the student body of University of Nottingham Malaysia Campus.

We aim to:
β€’ Organise student-led literary discussions and excursions to off-campus literary events
β€’ Hold drama workshops to train our skills in acting, rhythm, and other essential elements of theatre
β€’ Create opportunities for students to participate in student-led theatre productions as actors, stage managers, playwrights, stage directors, et cetera

We encourage the participation of all staff and students from any faculty or discipline.

Presenting our upcoming event, Stuck at Hope: Performance Poetry Workshop Series!

Facilitated by Dr Sheena Baharudin from the School of English, this workshop series will provide you with guidance on writing, polishing and translating your poem into a multimedia performance. So if you’re an aspiring poet who wants to explore the different ways of performing, this is your chance!

The series is consist of 2x3hour session on poetry and multimedia, with a special performance premiere as a finale!

Hello everyone, hope the semester is treating you well! Unfortunately, we have a very sad news πŸ™ Due to several complications that are out of our control, OAPF: Press Play is cancelled. We understand if you are upset, and in this unprecedented situation, and we share the same feelings too! 😭
Fret not, we promise to bring a better, bigger OAPF next year (hopefully..) and in the meantime, other things are brewing πŸ˜‰ Don't forget to keep an eye out for our future events and workshops ~
We also would like to extend our gratitude to all scriptwriters, directors and actors who have applied to be apart of this year's OAPF. We sincerely apologise and hope your talents will be fulfilled soon ✨

It's here! We're excited to announce that the script submission for our annual One Act-Play Festival β€” OAPF: PRESS PLAY is OPEN!

This year, for the first time ever, we're thrilled to announce that we are accepting submissions for virtual plays too! πŸŽ₯ If you're interested in playwriting:

* The play must comply to a 10 minute (+/-) duration (1 page β‰ˆ 1 minute on stage)
* The play must be 1 act only – no multiple acts and NO scene changes
* Specify the role you want (playwright and director OR just playwright)
* Specify if your play is a virtual play
* Must pay a small fee of RM 10 (which will be collected later)
* Submit your scripts to [email protected]

[Deadline for script submission has been extended to 15th January 2021]

If you're interested in directing only:

Send an email to [email protected] and indicate your interests so we can match you with a script! Please specify if you're interested in directing a live or virtual play.

[Deadline for director recruitment is on 31st DECEMBER 2020]

All it takes is for an idea to take root for your stories to blossom. Yet sometimes you have no ideas, sometimes you have too many - what you do have is the desire to write. Sometimes you have characters, but you don’t know who they are yet.

Introducing Stream of Conscious: Exploring your thoughts and your character’s thoughts, one of the first of LADS' writing workshops of this year! Come join a night of writing to explore yourself and your characters.
