4 Principles of Quan-Fa
These are the 4 fundamental principles that form the Fist Method (Quan-Fa). Here is an example, but through further discussion and practice, a lot more can be revealed.
Sink (Image 2) - As the opponent attempts to kick, "sinking the stance" drops the body's center of gravity, which creates a stronger root to the Earth. Basically, by not leaning over / forward and instead lowering the mass, the kick's energy is "nipped in the bud" before it can generate substantial force. The strategy is not to stop or block the opponent's kick, by meeting its force head on, but to redirect and dissipate the kick's energy downward, into a forward step instead.
Swallow (Image 3) - Instead of attempting to block and stop the opponent's intention to express their energy as a punch, applying Lu / Roll Back, along with "Let the thief in the door" sucks them in, similar to the vortex of a whirlpool and water being drawn down a drain. A revolving door is another good analogy.
Float (Image 4) - As the opponent overextends and becomes a victim of their own forward momentum, the support of the rear foot is lost, the knee lunges past the toe on the front supporting leg, causing the heel to lift off the ground, to a point the front toes are the last part of the lower body bearing the total body's mass. The opponent floats off their feet, as their Qi raises to the upper body and the lower body is no longer there to offer support. They become top heavy.
Spit (Image 5) - This all results in the opponent being spit out the other side. Directing the Spit downward, Sinks the opponent into the ground. "Push the Canoe with the Stream". Initially they are sucked in using Swallow, but then they are assisted out using Spit. Use Wei Wu / Non doing. Work with and complement the opponent's energetic movement.
Refined and skillful, minimum muscular force is required as the opponent's energy is used against them. Yield (don't inhibit) and Connect to their powerful flow. Follow their Yi / Intention, rather than struggling by use of your own crude Li / Force. Stay close, so not to break away, by use of Stick and Adhere.
