🎭 OPERA FOR KIDS IS BACK THIS SATURDAY! 🎶

Does your child love to sing, act and perform? Give them the opportunity to discover the magic of opera — and this term, they could even be part of KL City Opera’s production of Puccini’s Turandot! ✨

Opera for Kids – Term 2, 2026 begins this Saturday, 15 August.

Through music, drama and storytelling, children will:
🎵 Develop their singing and musical skills
🎭 Explore acting and stage performance
💡 Build confidence, creativity and imagination
🤝 Learn teamwork and make new friends
⭐ Experience the excitement of performing in a real opera production

Suitable for children aged 6–12
No previous experience required.

📅 Starts: Saturday, 15 August 2026
⏰ Time: 2:00 PM – 4:00 PM
📍 Venue: KLCO Studio, Petaling Jaya

Participants will have the opportunity to perform in KL City Opera’s monumental production of Turandot this October!

A princess. Three riddles. One chance to survive.

When Prince Calaf sees Princess Turandot, he chooses to risk everything for her — and strikes the gong that sets Puccini’s epic story in motion.

In 2026, Turandot marks 100 years since its world premiere.

This October, Kuala Lumpur City Opera brings this monumental opera back to Malaysia after more than 20 years, with the support of the Embassy of Italy in Kuala Lumpur and in conjunction with the Week of the Italian Language in the World.

This production features costume design by Kel Wen of BEHATI, music direction by Alessandro Mazzocchetti, and stage direction by Amelia Tan.

Returning to Malaysia after more than 20 years, Turandot is one of Giacomo Puccini's greatest masterpieces -a timeless story of love, sacrifice and redemption.

Featuring internationally acclaimed conductor Alessandro Mazzocchetti (Italy), stage director Amelia Tan, stunning costumes by Kel Wen of BEHATI, and an outstanding cast of Malaysian and international artists, this monumental production brings together a full orchestra and chorus to present one of opera's most spectacular works.

Presented by KL City Opera, with the support of the Embassy of Italy in Kuala Lumpur, and in conjunction with the Week of the Italian Language in the World, Turandot celebrates the enduring cultural ties between Malaysia and Italy through the universal language of music.

Something truly special is taking shape behind the scenes.

We’re incredibly excited to collaborate with and founder Kelwen as Costume Designer and Artistic Collaborator for KL City Opera’s production of Turandot.

Over the past few weeks, we’ve shared ideas, explored textures, colours and silhouettes, and watched Puccini’s legendary masterpiece begin to come alive through costume and design. Here’s a little glimpse behind the scenes from our recent photoshoot—we can’t wait to share more with you.

A huge thank you to Kelwen and the entire Behati team for embracing this creative journey with us. We believe this collaboration will bring a fresh Malaysian perspective to one of the world’s greatest operas.

👑 Behind the scenes of Turandot!

Yesterday, our cast gathered for the official profile photoshoot, and what a fun day it was! It was wonderful seeing everyone come together as we take another step towards bringing this epic production to life.

A big thank you to PixelPix Studio for hosting us, and to ChicVogue Hair & Make Up for making our cast (and producers) look amazing while creating such a fun and relaxed atmosphere throughout the shoot. We can’t wait to share the photos with you!
