It‘s Merdeka Month! 🇲🇾 To celebrate the spirit of Malaysia, throughout this month we’ll be featuring talented homegrown brands, sharing their stories, and celebrating the creativity and passion behind each one.

Our first feature is Perlibahasa by Sherwan Rozan - an illustrated collection of 30 Malay proverbs featuring animals.

The idea for Perlibahasa began with a curious conversation in a garden about how certain plants came to have their peculiar Malay names. Inspired by his love of geometric shapes, abstract patterns, wordplay, and a touch of sarcastic humour, Sherwan brought these beloved Malay sayings to life through playful illustrations of the unsuspecting animals at the heart of each proverb.

A thoughtful celebration of language, culture, and design, Perlibahasa is a beautiful reminder of the richness of Malaysia‘s storytelling traditions. 🇲🇾
