Many collectors love watercolours, but few know how to care for them properly.

Why do some watercolour paintings remain vibrant for over 200 years, while others begin to fade within just a few decades?

Join us for an insightful evening with Ong Fang Zheng, Art Conservator, as she shares practical knowledge on preserving and caring for paper-based artworks. Whether you are a seasoned collector, first-time buyer, artist, or art enthusiast, this session will help you better understand how proper care can protect both the beauty and value of your collection.

In tomorrow’s StarLifestyle pullout cover story, we speak to artist Ryzalman Misran, who weighs up the wet market's lively rhythms through hyperrealist watercolours through his debut solo 'Berapa Sekilo?'.

26/05/2026

What if a place most people rush through because of the smell, noise, and chaos could actually become something beautiful?

*Berapa Sekilo?* began with artist Ryzalman Misran’s fascination with the unnoticed poetry of the wet market. Through his hyper realistic watercolour paintings, he transforms familiar scenes of seafood, melting ice, handwritten price tags, and crowded market aisles into moments worth slowing down for.

In this video, Ryzalman shares the story behind the exhibition and how the idea of *Berapa Sekilo?* came to life. More than just documenting a market, the collection reflects on the rhythms of everyday life, labour, survival, and the beauty hidden in places we often overlook.

With the overwhelming response received so far, the exhibition will now be extended until 8 June 2026. If you have yet to experience it, this is your chance to step into a wet market in a completely unexpected way.

In a place many would rush through because of the smell, noise, and wet floors beneath their feet, Ryzalman Misran chose to stand still long enough to notice the beauty others overlooked.

The glimmer of melting ice.
The shine of freshly caught seafood.
A handwritten price tag quietly asking, berapa sekilo?

What he saw, was perhaps the details many of us have been missing in our everyday lives.
Through Berapa Sekilo? β€” Rhythm of The Wet Market, familiar pasar basah scenes are transformed into poetic hyperrealistic watercolours filled with memory, texture, and the quiet rhythm of everyday life.
A series best experienced in person. Works available for collection.
