As promised last week we will look on how the bell is made detachable today.
After the pre-polishing the “top” of the bell gets cut off. This is the place where the screw ring will be later. The screw ring gets filed on the inside to make sure that the soldered ring will last on the bell. After this, the ring gets placed on the bell. After the ring was aligned and is perfectly levelled it gets soldered to the bell. With sawing the leftovers of the bell off and wiping away the surplus solder the detachable bell (in raw condition) is ready to meet the fitting spout.

Today we want to take you with us on a journey every horn makes. In the following weeks we will show you some impressions of the manufacturing processes of our Mod. 103. You will be able to see the whole process, starting with a brass pipe and ending with the finished horn, how it looks when it leaves our workshop.

Today you can see how the 3rd F-horn valve bow is made. The straight tube is cut to the required length and bent in two steps. After that the bow looks pretty much like finished but still needs the calibration to achieve the final shape and bore size.
