I used to be a contractor.
Now, I’m a 3D mural artist.
Funny enough, sometimes I feel like I never really left construction.
This is probably my tenth visit to the same wall.
A mural is not just a big artwork.
There are measurements, site conditions, contractors, timing, changes, and a lot of communication in between.
Sometimes, I’m here in the middle of the night, after the mall closes, just to finish one small detail.
I’ve tried passing parts of the process to others, but I learned that mural work needs me to be present.
Because sometimes, you don’t know what needs to change until you stand in front of the wall.
It’s a long process.
But I guess that’s the beauty of building art into a space.
