#回收再造，從來不只是被動的分類手續，
而是一場對「物之價值」的深刻翻轉。

減法生活，不是捨棄，
而是給予萬物重獲新生的可能。

When Trash Meets Light: The Art of Plasticity 🌿

Visiting the studio of contemporary shadow play troupe ,
one realizes that single-use waste does not have to mean a dead end—
it can be the genesis of art.

Drink cartons, bubble wrap, and discarded plastic bags are reimagined through light and shadow, transforming into breathing forests, quiet urban skylines, and the ethereal installation dancing in the wind.

is never merely a sorting routine;
it is a profound revaluation of what we deem worthless.

2026年，我们第一次尝试户外装置艺术。

《生花》的创作，结合了三种不同的元素：藤, 塑料袋, 风。

从构思概念，制作到最后呈现共两个月。过程中经历失败、摸索与发现，不断尝试新的可能，收获满满。

再次谢谢槟城偶戏节与Hin Bus Depot ，给了我们一个可以试验的平台，并给予极大的自由度与支持，让我们可以自由创作与發掘新的可能性

In 2026, we took our first step into outdoor installation art.

The creation of ‘Berbunga’ brought together three different elements:
rattan,reused plastic and wind.

From developing the concept, to making, and finally presenting the work, the whole process took about two months. Along the way, we experienced failures, explored new knowledge, and kept discovering new possibilities. We came away with so much from the process.

A big thank you once again to the Penang Puppet Festival and Hin Bus Depot for giving us a platform to experiment and support, allowing us the freedom to create explore, and try new things

感謝文

槟城偶戏节《生花》结束快一周了～要好好谢谢大家

感谢 Ombak Potehi Penang 的信任，邀请 Plasticity 围绕「生花」主题创作一个装置藝術及呈現一個演出。于是，Hin Bus Depot上空有了一片由收集塑料袋製作成隨風飄曳的花瓣，草坪上则生出了一个巨型塑料袋與風結合的影子戲表演。

两个作品从概念、视觉，技术到設置呈現，一切都在不断测试、调整，我們的第一個戶外裝置也是第一次影子用這個方式呈現 - 大家风风火火，却也快快乐乐。

谢谢一路给予建议、提供塑料袋，帮忙制作、送食物饮料、拍摄记录…的朋友们，這些用不同形式給予支持的朋友給予我們很大的支撐能量。

It’s been almost a week since the Penang Puppet Festival came to an end. Time to say a big thank you.

Thank you Ombak Potehi for inviting us to create both an installation and a short performance inspired by Berbunga.

Both were first for us — our first outdoor installation, with drifting petals made from collected plastic bags above Hin Bus Depo; and our first exploration of shadow play with a giant plastic bag coming alive through wind and shadows on the lawn.

Two months of chaos, challenges and fun.

Thanks to everyone who supported us along the way, especially kimhanmade who hand-sews an oversized plastic bag from recycled materials,Thum for documenting the process, Wah Chew & Cheah Ni for the technical support, and most of all, Hin Bus Depot for giving us the space and trust to create boldly.

And above all, thank you Penang Puppet Festival for creating a garden where puppetry could bloom.

May local puppetry continue to grow, flourish and thrive.

Here’s a small wrap-up of our upcycled puppet-making workshop on 22–23 Nov 2025.

It was only a two-hour session across two days, yet we (Plasticity) received so much energy from everyone who joined us. We saw almost full, genuine engagement from the community—people of all ages, races, and nationalities.

Parents who are very supportive, stayed with their children, even waiting in the rain.
Kids returned on the second day with new friends because they wanted to make another puppet.
A son brought his elderly mum in her 70s–80s, and they enjoyed crafting together.
Groups of adults enjoyed making memories of their own childhood and countless moments

Despite the weather condition, everyone completed their puppets from scratch without a single complaint—only enthusiasm.

One of the moment that truly touched us:
When the participants reflecting their own made puppets into shadow, their expression watching their puppet “come alive”—reminded us why we do this.

And it wasn’t just the kids. Many adults were equally focused, rediscovering the joy of making things by hand, satisfied and happy in a simple way we sometimes forget.

We originally thought we were just there to run a merely simple workshop.
We didn’t expect it to give us this much energy and such a sincere reminder.

We hope this small happiness we experienced, and the energy we received, reaches you too. ❤️
