Gudang Yee Seng 2, Jalan Klang Lama, Taman Goodwood, 58000 Kuala Lumpur. (next to BHP Petrol Station)

KongsiKL is an old industrial warehouse at Jalan Klang Lama, with a built-up of more than 10,000 sqf. The warehouse was entrusted to KakiKongsi by Exsim Development Sdb Bhd, to develop social experimentations centred around the ideology of sharing

- 'Kongsi'

KongsiKL has two purposes – to curate, develop and host programmes that rediscover old trades/craft by injecting new life into them. And, lease out the space for events that are site relevant. KakiKongsi hopes to instil the spirit of sharing by creating ‘Kongsi’ events, a platform to share resources & content (knowledge, talent, arts, history, stories) to enrich the lives and enhance the social cohesion of the local community. KakiKongsi's Manifesto:

KakiKongsi embraces the spirit of sharing within its commune. KakiKongsi encourages the sharing of time, talent, space and resources in activities with minimal monetary exchange. KakiKongsi believes in the nurturing of the communal spirit to inspire a sense of unity and connection with each other. KakiKongsi promotes eccentric happenings and non-commercial pop-up events that are specific to the space and its locality.

Sam Koh, the paper construction artist behind Bardo 中陰身, has been selected for the British Pavilion at the Venice Architecture Biennale 2027. KL audiences will soon get a rare glimpse of his world-class joss paper installation in this new presentation by KongsiKL.

KongsiKL’s space—once an iron factory—is defined by its distinctive skylights and cast-iron floor sockets. Fittingly, Bardo 中陰身 first premiered in Penang at COEX, another former ironworks. As the production moves to Kuala Lumpur, it remains closely tied to its kilang besi origins.

Congratulations as well to paper artisan Sam Koh (高永杰) on this international recognition. In Bardo 中陰身, audiences will encounter his striking creations—from Da Shi Ye to Black and White Impermanence, the Judge, and the Earth Deity—rendered with exceptional traditional craftsmanship and rarely seen in theatre.

_____
