🖤 In Memoriam — Azrani Bin Azmi (DJ Zack)

Innalillahi wa inna ilaihi raji’un.

It is with a heavy heart that Kuching Comic Con (KCC) mourns the passing of our dear community friend, Azrani Bin Azmi, affectionately known to us as Zack of RTM redfmenglish.

Zack was more than just a supporter of KCC. He was a true friend of our community, a passionate pop-culture and toy enthusiast, and one of the strongest supporters who believed in what KCC was trying to build.

From the very beginning, his presence, encouragement and genuine love for the collecting and pop-culture community meant so much to us. His passion was infectious, his support was sincere, and his friendship will always hold a special place in the KCC family. Some people come into our lives and leave behind memories. Some leave behind a community that is stronger because they were part of it.

DJ Zack was one of those people.

We will remember him not only for his love of toys and pop culture, but for the kindness, enthusiasm and spirit he brought to everyone around him.

On behalf of Kuching Comic Con Official, Pickers Zone Company, and the entire KCC community, our deepest condolences go to his family, loved ones, colleagues and friends.

“Indeed, we belong to Allah, and indeed to Him we will return.” — Surah Al-Baqarah 2:156

Our deepest condolences to his family, loved ones, colleagues and friends.

May Allah SWT forgive his shortcomings, shower his soul with His mercy, and place him among the righteous and the faithful.

Al-Fatihah.

Rest in peace, Zack.
Thank you for being part of the KCC family. You will always be remembered. 🖤

🎉 TAHNIAH AVILTONE! 🎉

Kuching Comic Con would like to extend our warmest congratulations to local cartoonist and KCC alumni headliner, Aviltone Studio, on the recent release of his debut comic, “Random Giler”!

A collection of loose comics and sketches packed with Aviltone’s signature humour and creativity, and a wonderful milestone for a homegrown artist from Kuching. 🫶 He was an alumni headliner at Kuching Comic Con, and now publishing his very own comic, this is definitely a moment worth celebrating!

Congratulations, Aviltone! We’re proud to see local talent continue to create, inspire and bring Sarawakian creativity to a wider audience. ❤️

Random Giler, now officially unleashed!

Runner (2026)

Personal Rating: 8.1/10 ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️

Runner was a surprise package for me this week. A straightforward good-guys-vs-bad-guys action movie, but one that delivers plenty of fun along the way.

It has that Die Hard-type vibe, a simple mission that quickly turns into chaos, with action that doesn’t hold back when it comes to the brutality.

Owen Wilson is naturally funny, and pairing his comedic timing with Alan Ritchson’s brute-force action hero makes for a surprisingly good combination. Their chemistry works, and the contrast between the two characters keeps the movie entertaining.

My only real setback is that the bad guys’ deaths feel a little too easy, especially considering they’re supposed to be a fearsome Australian gang + Latin American carter combo. I expected them to be a much bigger threat and put up more of a fight.

Other than that, Runner is fast, fun and packed with action. Definitely another surprise package for me this week. 🍿🔥

Resident Evil (2026) 🧟‍♂️🔫

Personal Rating: 8.7/10 ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐

Zach Cregger feels like the right director for a Resident Evil film. He understands that what makes the games work isn’t just the monsters and gore, it’s the tension, exploration, resource management and that constant feeling that something could be waiting around the corner.

For the video game nerds, there are plenty of gratifying little moments. From the lock, counting bullets, keys and other gameplay-inspired details, Cregger clearly knows how to bring the Resident Evil experience to the big screen without simply copying the games.

Most importantly, it works as a survival horror film on its own. It’s scary, occasionally funny, and Austin Abrams really carries the movie.

I also love seeing more game adaptations finally understanding how games should feel when translated to film. With today’s technology, the line between watching a game and actually feeling like you’re inside one is getting thinner.

This is the kind of game adaptation I want to see more of.

So many great names from pop culture have left us this year… 💔

It’s sad to see the people behind so many of our childhood memories slowly becoming memories themselves. From cartoons and movies to music, toys and wrestling, they shaped a generation.

Thank you for the memories, Ted Turner. ❤️🕊️
