The Cathedral Choir is deeply honoured to have been invited, alongside St James Church Quop Choir, to sing for the newly confirmed members, the newly inducted PCC members, the Gawai Celebration Service and also Pentecost Sunday, as well as during the luncheon held in support of the fundraising efforts for St Philip’s Church, Lubok Antu.

We would like to express our sincere gratitude for the warm hospitality extended to all of us, the delightful fellowship dinner, and the splendid variety of home-cooked dishes. It was truly a blessing.

Special thanks are extended to Reverend Afron Gori for your dedicated efforts in accommodating every request and ensuring the comfort and well-being of everyone throughout our stay. May God continue to bless your ministry in Lubok Antu. We sincerely hope that the presence of The Cathedral Choir together with St James’s Choir has brought joy and encouragement to the congregation in Lubok Antu.

Yesterday’s Ascension Day Service, 14 May 2026 at 7:30pm at the Cathedral came with unexpected surround sound from Padang Merdeka. The speakers were blasting so loudly that even the Ascension nearly turned into a music festival collaboration. 🔊🥁🎸🎤

Thank you to St James’s Church Choir, especially Choir Director Mr Simon Eldine Jaboh, for inviting The Cathedral Choir to join in the 42nd celebration of your choir formation. We recognize that the choir’s roots go back much further than 42 years, though no formal records remain from its earliest beginnings. Since the time when Reverend Abe introduced part-singing, and Chung Ah Luk contributed through violin accompaniment and choral harmony, the choir has carried a rich and meaningful musical heritage.

St James’s Church Choir, Quop, is renowned for its long-standing tradition of a ca****la singing, a legacy that has endured for more than 160 years. We are truly grateful for this beautiful relationship built through melody, fellowship, and song. We pray that for generations to come, the choir will continue to inspire other choirs across Sarawak to sing with excellence for the glory of God.

The Cathedral Choir Annual Thanksgiving Dinner was held in a spirit of gratitude and fellowship, and we were truly blessed by the presence of Canon Revd Alfred Damu.

In his address, he reminded the choir not to be discouraged by negative remarks, noting that no one is exempt from criticism, especially when striving to do well. Instead, he encouraged us to remain steadfast in our calling-to draw people closer to God through music, and to fulfil our mission of making Christ known through our ministry.

He also commended the choir for its dedication and efforts, and offered his prayers that the Cathedral Choir will continue to serve as a positive example and role model to other choirs.

Thankful to be part of the Opening Ceremony of the UNIFOR Complex, where the Cathedral Choir, together with St James Church Quop Choir has been entrusted to sing in representation of the wider Christian community.

We pray for the smooth running of the event and that our voices may faithfully proclaim the Good News.
