IT has been two years since Mohd Faizal Rahmat, 41, lost his left leg due to peripheral vascular disease.

“I nearly died after my leg was amputated because I didn’t take care of myself. At the time, I was taking care of my mother who was suffering from lung cancer,” Faizal, an architect graduate from Universiti Teknologi Malaysia.

His artwork “3D Kota Melaka”, depicting the Malacca empire before it was lost to the Portuguese, was recently widely shared on social media, giving him hope and encouragement to continue his work.

THE Nine Emperor Gods festival is celebrated for nine days by Taoist devotees, beginning on the eve of the ninth lunar month of the Chinese calendar.

Devotees traditionally dress in white and carry candles during a procession from temples to rivers or seashores as a symbolic gesture of inviting gods to the temples through waterways.

Hundreds of devotees, including priests, chariots, and cultural groups, were part of this year’s procession, after a two-year hiatus due to the Covid-19 restrictions.
