Are you a cyclist in Bangsar/ Kuala Lumpur?
Would you like your neighborhood to be walkable and bikeable?
Mission
BBC will:
/1./ Implement a significant portion of Bangsar’s bicycle and pedestrian plans;
/2./ Help Bangsar achieve a Bicycle Friendly Community status;
/3./ Help surrounding areas achieve status as Bicycle Friendly Communities;
/4./ Increase public and political support for bicycling and walking;
/5./ Improve the security and safely in the area.
/6./ Create in a complete, safe and interconnected bike network that uses both creative solutions and best practices;
/7./ Improve walking infrastructure, and;
/8,/ Get more people biking and walking more often.
/9./ Reduce bicycling and pedestrian related crashes and injuries.
/10./ Expand our education and awareness campaigns to include people who bike, walk, drive, and use public transit,
/11./ Expand Bangsar bicycle network so that every BBCist is within one KM of a bikeway.
/12./ Represent and serve a diverse constituency of residents, visitors and supporters who bike and walk from all parts of Bangsar/ KL;
/13./ Build and sustain an engaged individual membership of 1,000, and business membership of 100 by 2020.
/14./ Maintaining a motivated and knowledgeable staff and supporting volunteers;
/15./ Cultivating community partnerships.
We are working on a Guide to Safe Cycling for Bangsar residents. This guideline is intended to give motorists and cyclists safety tips and some understanding of their respective rights and responsibilities toward each other so they may share the road safely.
We would like to see some significant steps in improving bicycle and pedestrian accommodations in Bangsar area. With a nearby LRT Station and MRT that will be completed in a few years, we are looking forward to a more pedestrian and cyclists friendly Bangsar in the coming years.
