"Depicting the urgency of the now is a crucial element in my practice. Whether expressed en plein air through landscape compositions, or alla prima portraiture, the urge to record an instance is something that I try to imbue in my work.

Representation, and the art of slow looking, is a skill still considered niche in contemporary art. I attempt to communicate this through the genre of academic painting, adapting it to a contemporary audience to project aesthetic qualities even in otherwise overlooked and neglected subject matter."

Who We Are, and What We Do

Alice Loo
Sculptor & Artist, Penang

The only sculptor in our group of artists, her distinctive work is hard to miss!

From a painting background, she has evolved into a figurative sculptor.

Her sculptures are shaped by cultural influences, and her own life experiences. She creates captivating works that speak for themselves, allowing the viewer to experience emotional and rhythmic changes through the sculpting process.

Her compelling works have been featured in major art exhibitions in Penang, where she lives and works.

Alice's sculptures will be displayed in Booth 142 . Do drop by on the opening weekend to have a chat with Alice about her work!

“I see myself as an investigator. Not only to the people and events happening around me, but also to my own thoughts and habits. It’s a never-ending process.”

A self taught painter and artist, her works often connect real life storytelling with her cultural background and personal memories. Her observation of human behaviour and the urban landscape inspired her to inform viewers of the complex relationship between themselves and modern life.

Be there to talk about art, or simply just gossiping about who and what, because s̶h̶e̶ everybody is good at it!
