Here's the half that decides whether you're still happy in three years: 3 RCA PRE-OUTS AT 4V.

Pre-outs are the clean line-level connections between the head unit and everything you might add later — an amplifier, a subwoofer, a processor. SIX PHOTOGRAPHS. ONE SPEAKER. SIX POSITIONS. 🔄

Look again — it's the same speaker in every frame. Only the angle changes.

TS-STX080 is a satellite pod on an adjustable bracket, and that bracket is the entire point. Most car speakers fire wherever the factory hole happens to point, which is usually at your shin. A pod you can aim points the sound at the people listening.

WHY AIMING CHANGES SO MUCH:
High frequencies are directional — they travel in a beam, and they get absorbed by carpet, seats and clothing. Low frequencies spread everywhere. So when a speaker is aimed at the floor you don't lose the bass, you lose the DETAIL. The music goes dull and you turn it up to compensate, which just makes it louder and still dull.

Turn the pod towards head height and the same speaker suddenly sounds "clearer" — nothing changed except direction.

COAXIAL VS COMPONENT — THE STRAIGHT ANSWER, NO SALES TALK.

TS-D65F is the D-Series 16.5cm two-way coaxial. Coaxial means the tweeter sits in the middle of the woofer, so the whole thing is ONE piece that drops into ONE factory opening.

WHEN A COAXIAL IS THE RIGHT CALL:
🔹 Your car has no factory tweeter position and you don't want A-pillars cut or pods added
🔹 You're upgrading the REAR speakers — rear fill doesn't need a separate tweeter

WATCH THE EDGE, NOT THE MIDDLE. 🟡

Fifteen seconds of a cone doing its job — and one thing worth knowing while you watch it.

Everyone looks at the centre of a speaker. The action that decides how your bass sounds is happening at the EDGE, in the rubber ring around the cone. That's the surround, and its job is to let the cone travel far enough to make bass, then bring it back to exactly where it started — fast, and without wobbling sideways.

Too stiff, and the cone can't move: thin, gutless bass. Too soft, and it keeps moving after the note has finished: that boomy, one-note thump you hear from a car two lanes away. Get it right and bass sounds TIGHT — which is a word everyone uses and almost nobody explains. Tight bass just means the cone stopped when the music stopped.

❓ "Is this the same as a subwoofer?"
No. A subwoofer handles the deepest frequencies. This is a 17cm mid-bass doing the punch you feel in your chest — kick drum, bass guitar, the body of the music. A lot of people add a sub and wonder why it still sounds flat. Usually the mid-bass was the problem all along.

❓ "Do good speakers need a break-in period?"
The surround does loosen slightly over the first few weeks. It's real, it's subtle, and it's not a reason to worry if day one sounds slightly tight.

WHAT YOU ACTUALLY GET IN THE BOX — AND WHAT EACH PIECE DOES

People open a component set and find more parts than they expected. Here's every one of them and why it's there.

🔹 THE WOOFERS
17cm, yellow glass fibre cone. Handles low and mid frequencies. Goes in the factory door opening.

🔹 THE TWEETERS
Separate drivers for the high frequencies. They ship with TWO types of mounting hardware — surface mount for an A-pillar or dash pod, and flush mount for a factory tweeter position. That's deliberate: your installer picks the one that suits your car instead of forcing one solution.

🔹 THE CROSSOVER NETWORK
A passive unit that splits the signal — highs to the tweeter, lows to the woofer. It sits outside the speaker, hidden behind a trim panel. Three-level adjustment on board.

❓ "Why can't the speaker just do this internally?"
It can — that's a coaxial, and it's a fine choice. But once the crossover is external, the tweeter is free to go somewhere sensible, and you get the adjustment dial. That's the trade: a bit more install work for real control over the result.

❓ "Where do you hide the crossover boxes?"
Behind the door card or under the dash, out of sight and away from moisture. Your installer will show you where before they close the panel.

❓ "Can I install this myself?"
You can. We'd rather you didn't for a set at this level — the tweeter position and the crossover setting are where most of the sound quality actually lives, and those take experience, not tools.
