KLPF aims to establish Malaysian photography on the world map. Managed by: P*P PUBLICATIONS [002078998-P] Welcome to the Kuala Lumpur Photography Festival (KLPF), the pre-eminent photography event in Malaysia and a celebrated cornerstone within the Southeast Asian and international photographic communities. Since its inception in 1997, KLPF has evolved into a comprehensive platform, catering to th

e diverse needs of the entire imaging industry – from individual photographers to imaging equipment manufacturers, service providers, photographic societies, awards organisations, and art collectors. We proudly embrace collaborations with exhibitors from around the globe, spanning the USA, Korea, Singapore, Thailand, Taiwan, Indonesia, Hong Kong, Tanzania, Uganda, Ethiopia, UAE, Switzerland, and more, making it a global focal point for photography enthusiasts. In response to the challenges posed by the COVID-19 pandemic, KLPF transitioned from virtual and hybrid formats to its original in-person event, marking a significant moment of resilience and rebirth. We are thrilled to welcome photographers, travellers, and visitors to the most anticipated photography event of the year. After more than 27 years, the KLPF continues to captivate audiences with its compelling exhibitions, enriching workshops, enlightening seminars, and engaging dialogues. Photography is not just a visual art but also a gateway to exploration, and when we travel, we savour the local cuisine, enriching our journeys. Therefore, the Kuala Lumpur Photography Festival embodies a celebration of photography, art, travel, and the delectable local delicacies that define each unique destination.

Some books are more than publications — they help keep photographic culture alive.

Support “New York, Raw and Uncut” by Jerome De Perlinghi, a powerful 20-year visual journey through the streets of New York from 1981–2001.

Shot entirely on film, the book captures the raw energy, grit, humanity, and unpredictability of New York — from Harlem and The Bronx to Times Square and Coney Island — through the eyes of a young photographer discovering both the city and himself.

By supporting this Kickstarter project, you are also helping to fund "Eyes On Main Street Wilson Outdoor Photo Festival" — one of the collaborators of KLPF and a festival dedicated to bringing photography into public spaces for everyone to experience.

A beautiful reminder of why street photography matters.

Congratulations to 𝐘𝐮𝐣𝐢 𝐇𝐚𝐢𝐤𝐚𝐥 on his outstanding achievement in winning multiple international photography awards!

Your dedication to the craft and consistent pursuit of excellence continue to place Malaysian photography on the global stage.

As one of the finalists for Photo Creator of the Year at KLPF 2025, your journey reflects the very spirit of growth, resilience and artistic integrity that the platform celebrates.

May this milestone be another stepping stone towards even greater accomplishments ahead. Keep creating. Keep inspiring.

Fresh from the global stage — runner-up at the Xposure International Photography Awards in Sharjah against nearly 29,000 submissions worldwide, winner of Best Photobook at the International Photography Awards (IPA) 2024 in Athens, gold medallist in both the Budapest and Tokyo International Foto Awards, and First Place in the Malaysian category at the Kuala Lumpur Portrait Awards — Yuji Haikal is carrying Malaysia’s name far beyond its borders.

Yet for the 41-year-old street photographer, the accolades are only part of the story.

Behind the recognition is a son answering his late father’s quiet, piercing question: “Why aren’t you taking photos anymore?”

This Ramadan, as Kuala Lumpur exhales into dusk and strangers gather shoulder to shoulder to break fast, Yuji returns to the streets — seeking not spectacle, but shared humanity.

From Sharjah to Athens and back to KL, his lens continues to tell stories shaped by grief, memory and empathy.
