Geethashankarandance Dance and Music is the ultimate expression of the inner self, which lies dormant in each one. Indian classical dance is magical, mystical, mesmerising.

As a Family in the Arts, we share knowledge in Bharatanatyam, Odissi, Kathak, Bollywood-Fusion, Ballet-Contemporary, Theatre & Storytelling, Yoga, Carnatic Vocal, Dhrupad, Western Guitar & Visual Art. Having discovered the healing energies of these artforms, this course is formulated out of 30 years of sheer experience and sound training. Dance and movement is therapeutic and should be explored by one and all regardless of age, race and colour. Dance is for one and all to understand the nature of our balance and origins. It reconnects us to a past so glorious, it can be experienced from realms that is silent and moving. The Gods and celestials come alive, when we invoke them with our body, mind and spirit. And that is a meditation or Yoga. It is the one way to reconnect the past with the present and into a future, if we choose. and thereby enhancing our self awareness and divinity within us, and that is blessedness. In a nutshell:

October 11th - 20th GSD Performing Arts Studio will also observe our lovely Aradhana to the Feminine shakti,
Navodaya: SHE Rises.
An empowering statement that reminds us of the light of courage and light within us to take up fresh challenges and to never be afraid to face the day.

Kindly check the schedule attached. Do come and support.
We are offering pujas and aradhaanas,
at GSD studio on 11th, 17th & 18th mornings,
at GSD on 12th, 13th, 16th, evenings,
on 14th night at The Temple of Fine Arts,
on 15th night at Laasya Arts, Bfields,
on 17th night at the Sg Buloh Dewa Sri Mariamman Temple, and
in the 19th at The Bengalee Association's Ashtami puja at Geeta Ashram.
Finally on the 20th, we will let Her rest.

We will intriduce a new Sanskrit class on Saturdays at 1pm, after a Navarathri workshop on Saturday 17th with Miss Vathana Chandrasegaran. Contact is if you wish to attend or take up lessons.

I have not found the words to describe what happened over the 2 days of the performances. 🤫

Blessings... 🙏🏻 I was embraced in.

So much love was poured in, was felt.. hardwork... sacrifices, prayers..,
Spirited, though tired, plunging in the choreography...attempting
every blessed suggestion... till the last few hours before we opened!
TIME... and sweat..
thought and silent intuition..
Mindful meditation and manifestation..
Surrender..
Experience..

Oh what Joy!! to revel in that Glorious ness.

GSD Performing Arts Studio is proud, and happy that for 4 classes of 2 hours each in September (7, 14, 21 & 28), Sangametra Lam & I were engaged to impart the basics of Bharatanatyam, to 25 students aged 10 to 12 at a Chinese school in Sungai Long.

Thank you to my friend Lau Beh Chin, who took the trouble to make an impression that in our multi racial country, the need to study and know all the basic dance forms is a healthy way of fostering friendship, respect, admiration and improving standards.

Schools are focul points/Chakra centers, that require carefully guided planning for young minds and growing bodies. It's where, talent scouting and nurturing of adulthood is shaped. Besides education, sports and passing exams or winning competitions..., allowing the students to relax, rest, regain and build expression is important and kind.
The vision and mission in Chinese schools are about discipline and commitment. 👍 We also need to inject...the magic of Indian arts and the grace of Heart. 🌹🤟🏼

The teacher on duty🙏🏼❤️ is a lovely person always sitting in with us observing us, helping with translating from English if I need help, expressing in Mandarin & therefore I learnt to practise my Mandarin words too. I've learnt basics of Mandarin and can make out phrases or sentences.

When we finished our class on Monday 29th (straight after DviRupa, the next day it was a journey that starts at 1130am & finishes at 430pm) and we announced that it would be our final class, what sad faces they made. They huddled around us, and begged us not to stop coming.

Aww... 😔 we were moved and touched. Sad, that we have to pause, because Navarathri preparations begin from this week for us. Lots of new work begins.

Positively, I told them that we shall continue after their exams, and when Navarathri is over, in November.
They cheered up!!😉

They had a gift for Sangu, and gave us both lots of hugs and smiles and byes!!

For those who still don't know what's happening...it's a super busy week with so much happening all over the country.
It's a celebration of arts, culture, movies and, conflicts too!! 😃🕊️🩷

Our next biggest production is set to open its doors on Saturday 26th and Sunday 27th of September at GSD Performing Arts Studio at Hexa Walk, Desa Petaling. If you haven't got the few tickets, contact us at 012-6457446.

This is a unique program. For the 1st time, two of my homegrown, young girls, who were nurtured and raised by me are stepping into the light to present a good combination of traditional items, I learnt over the 40 years. They are in their most beautiful stage of their lives. 🌹🪷

The challenge of dedicating TIME in training, today in a rushed world... is the 1st chapter. Commitment.

Dedicating long hours, planned, scheduled, with meditation, prayer, with exercise routines,regiments put in place.

This week is fine-tuning and finalizing the production work. It's work in progress and, it has prospects for conversation. Exchanges and discussions to promote healthy mindsets. It has values for youths to consider when feeling worried about being disconnected from a dream or passion unfulfilled.
Indian classical dance has magic and wonder. It promores courage and devotion.

2 more days to go!
We pray for smooth sailing and positive outcomes.
Friends with tickets do come by 545 or 6pm. Snacks and refreshments are available.
Join the performers in a special prayer for all the peaceful reasons. Join us to rest and relax.
