Description: The Glamorisation of Male Violence in Pop Culture

Join us in an engaging session to critically analyse how pop culture often portrays male violence as heroic, stylish, or necessary. We will examine examples from films, television, video games, and music, delving into the narratives that glorify aggression and its impact on societal perceptions of masculinity. Using frameworks like feminist theory, critical media studies, and masculinity studies, participants will discuss:
• Why is male violence so often romanticised in media?
• How do these portrayals shape societal expectations of men?
• Are there alternative narratives that challenge this glorification?

This session fosters open dialogue and collaborative exploration, encouraging participants to rethink the cultural norms perpetuated by popular media.

Concept of Self-defence & Knife

Many knife-based self-defense martial arts promise quick solutions or "surefire" techniques to defend against an attacker with a knife, often overselling their effectiveness in real-world situations. These systems may focus on flashy moves or unrealistic scenarios that ignore the complexities and risks involved in a knife encounter.

Our workshop aims to expose these false promises by educating participants on the true dangers of knife attacks and the limitations of relying solely on certain self-defense methods. Through realistic training, we aim to help people understand the critical importance of awareness, de-escalation, and practical defense strategies to minimize risk and protect themselves in dangerous situations.

冰島之聲 KIASMOS（Ólafur Arnalds x Janus Rasmussen）吉隆坡專場

Kiasmos由享譽全球的冰島藝人Ólafur Arnalds和法羅群島著名音樂人Janus Rasmussen組成，併帶來他們備受期待的第二張專輯《II》。對於全球矚目的冰島電子音樂組合Kiasmos來說，一個新時代已經開啟。

Ólafur Arnalds和Janus Rasmussen發行在2014年的首張同名專輯獲得了廣泛好評，隨後的一繫列EP也繼續吸引著全球粉絲。2024年，Kiasmos在時隔五年後再次帶著先鋒的音樂回歸。

Icelandic-Faroese duo Kiasmos brings their minimal and experimental techno music to Malaysia, performing for the first time in Kuala Lumpur on 17 October at The Odeum, Jiospace PJ.

A new chapter has started for the highly influential electronic duo Kiasmos. Consisting of longtime friends and collaborators Olafur Arnalds and Janus Rasmussen, their seminal self-titled debut album was released to critical acclaim in 2014, followed by a series of EPs which have since continued to find fans all around the world. Finally, 2024 sees Kiasmos return to the live stage for the first time in over 5 years, with a brand new album to share.
