Our students delivered a remarkable performance at the Festival of Bharatanatyam 2024 on 4th August at the Tan Sri Soma Auditorium in Kuala Lumpur. Their dedication, passion, and grace on stage truly captured the essence of Bharatanatyam. Each movement, expression, and rhythm showcased their hard work and deep love for this beautiful art form.

Additionally, it was also an honor to be part of the forum to discuss the significance of Salangai Poojai. Engaging with the audience and answering their questions about this important milestone in a dancer's journey was a fulfilling experience.Gratitude to everyone who supported and celebrated this incredible display of talent and cultural heritage. Looking forward to many more inspiring performances ahead!

Dear friends, dancers, and the Bharatanatyam well wishers,

As you may know, MBDA President, Dr. Sri Ganesan, has recently passed away, leaving behind a profound void in our hearts. His immense contributions and unwavering dedication to Bharatanatyam will always be remembered.

In this transitional period, I humbly accept the responsibility of serving as the Acting President of the Malaysia Bharatanatyam Dance Association (MBDA). I extend my heartfelt gratitude to MBDA Founder,'Nattuva Thilagam' Srimathi Indira Manikam for her invaluable contributions and guidance throughout the years. Her vision and passion will continue to inspire us as we move forward. I also express my deepest appreciation to all the members and supporters of the MBDA for their unwavering commitment and trust. I look forward to collaborating with each one of you, as we embark on this journey together.

We are thrilled to announce that two talented students from Kalakendira Dance Academy had the incredible opportunity to perform at the Festival of Bharatanatyam 2023, organized by the Malaysian Bharatanatyam Dance Association (MBDA). Taking place on June 5th, 2023, at the renowned Shantanand Auditorium, Temple of Fine Arts in Brickfield, Kuala Lumpur, our students showcased their grace, dedication, and artistry. Securing the first slot, their captivating performance left the audience spellbound, with elegant movements and expressive storytelling. We extend our heartfelt gratitude to MBDA for this prestigious platform and salute our students' unwavering passion for Bharatanatyam. Congratulations to our talented dancers, and may the beauty of this art form continue to flourish.

I was deeply saddened to hear about the passing of my dear friend, Guru Sri Ganesan the esteemed Bharatanatyam guru and President of the Malaysia Bharatnatyam Dance Association (MBDA). Since the mid1980s, we not only shared a close friendship but also had the privilege of dancing together, creating beautiful moments that will forever be cherished. His departure on 9th June 2023 in Bhubaneswar, India, has left a void in my heart and in the dance community that cannot be filled.

Guru Sri Ganesan's dedication and passion for Bharatanatyam were unparalleled. As the founder of Sri Ganesalaya, he nurtured and guided numerous aspiring dancers, instilling in them not only the technical skills but also a profound appreciation for the art form. His relentless efforts and unwavering commitment to Bharatanatyam in Malaysia have been instrumental in shaping and promoting its growth over the years.

Under Guru Sri Ganesan's tutelage, Sri Ganesalaya produced several exceptional dancers who have gone on to make significant contributions to the field. His teachings were imbued with wisdom, discipline, and a deep understanding of the rich cultural heritage that Bharatanatyam embodies. His legacy will continue to live on through the countless lives he has touched and the enduring impact of his students.

During this time of grief and loss, let us remember Guru Sri Ganesan for the remarkable contributions he made to the world of Bharatanatyam. His artistic brilliance, profound knowledge, and compassionate nature will forever be cherished by all those who had the privilege of learning from him or experiencing his mesmerizing performances.

May his soul find eternal peace and may his legacy continue to inspire future generations of dancers to embrace and celebrate the beauty of Bharatanatyam. Our heartfelt condolences go out to Guru Sri Ganesan's family, friends, students, and the entire Bharatanatyam community, both in Malaysia and beyond.
