Now Theatre

Now Theatre An alternative performing arts venue in Kuala Lumpur. Now Theatre is a nonprofit performing arts site. Now Theatre is an open platform.

‘Now’, in English it means at the present, right at this moment.

“鬧”, a Chinese word which pronounced as ‘now’, meaning noisy, playful, vibrant and exuberant. It serves as an alternative performance space for Malaysian arts practitioners who wish to establish pure art creations and to voice out new ideas. We wish to provide a new location to catch what falls through the cracks between larger pub

lic institutions and commercial ventures. We offer a supportive environment allowing artists to freely explore different kinds of artistic endeavors from any direction, including creative approaches, theatrical styles, ways of representation and artistic forms; bring up provocative issues and engage in critical thinking; try out experimental works with a different creative medium. Through opening up diverse conversations and exchanging multiple resources, we also hope to stimulate new ideas and broaden the vision of the arts. There is always a reflection of vigor and vitality in experimental theatre, filled with an exuberant, creative force and innovative spirits. We hope to uphold such principles and remain a clear stream within Malaysia performing arts scene.

Now Theatre(鬧劇場)是一家非盈利的表演場所。

What exists between a loss of balance and a meeting with the ground? How can we let go of control, to look for what’s just beyond our grasp? Drawing inspiration from various disciplines of freeriding, this work is an exploration of how our bodies can be a vehicle into flow.
