TC Music Enterprise

TC Music Enterprise TC Music Enterprise offers a fine selection of vintage & used American guitars and tube amplifiers. It’s been an interesting ride, but a great one, so far.

I have played and collected guitars and amps since the early 1990s. Being a college student in the southeast United States opened up my perspective on used and vintage American guitars. Their rich history, excellent workmanship, and stupendous collectibility factors magnetized my passion towards this hobby to a great degree. In 2016, I made the big jump from the corporate world to become a small business owner. My store is located in north Kuala Lumpur.

Feel free to browse through the instruments on display here for your viewing pleasure. I am open to offers/trades or just that good ol’ time guitar chat... My other passions are also shared here, with the hope of common interest and information exchange. Terence Chong

A little TLC for this AK 3/4 acoustic steel-strings guitar before it heads off to another community centre 🎸

One of the dot markers on the fingerboard had gone missing, but no drama, found a matching pearl dot and popped it right back in. Good as new, and nobody had to lose any sleep over it😄

Gave the guitar a proper setup and service, then restrung it with Ernie Ball 10/52 80/20 Earthwound strings. Nice and fresh, ready for its next chapter.

Another guitar cleaned up, tuned up and hopefully destined to make a little noise ; the good kind ❤️🎶

Thank you and appreciation going out to VK Lee for this contribution 🤝👍

A Tele with a little twist, and hopefully a whole lot of music ahead 🎸

This Soloking Telecaster-style semi-solid electric guitar has now found a new home at Yayasan Sunbeams in Cheras, KL.

It was a pleasure having Ms. Sarasuwaty and Simon Peter on hand to receive the guitar on behalf of Sunbeams Home. Hopefully this one gets plenty of playing time, a few sore fingers, and maybe even a future rock star or two. . .😄

Another guitar out the door, another opportunity for music to find its way into someone’s life. That’s what this little guitar project is all about ❤️

Play it loud, play it often! 🎶

Special thanks going out to C.c. Foong for contributing this new Soloking Telecaster-style guitar towards this cause. You rock buddy 🎸🤙🏻🤘🏻

This Squier Tele came in for a setup… but the neck pickup had decided to go on permanent leave… 😂

Turns out the old Alpha 3-way pickup selector switch was the culprit. Bridge pickup? Happy. Neck pickup? Absolutely nothing. Total silent treatment…😆

So we gave the Tele a proper setup, swapped out the faulty switch, checked the wiring, and gave everything a good once-over.

And just like that, the neck pickup found its voice again. 🎸

Sometimes the guitar doesn’t need therapy. It just needs a new switch 😂

Had another meaningful visit to Suriana Welfare Society Malaysia recently, this time with Charles and William Chin Wei Limg

We dropped off three acoustic guitars, including a classical nylon-string, and were warmly welcomed by its GM; Ivan Lee. Always nice to see the guitars finding their way to people who can actually put them to good use ☺️🎸

And then there was a nice little surprise — I made a new friend, Dominic, who happens to be an old pal of Charles. Small world, eh? 😄

Funny how these things work out. A guitar donation activity turns into meeting new people, reconnecting old friends and sharing a few laughs along the way.

The Lord works in mysterious ways… 🙏🎸

Shout out to Tim Yip Lim Eng Ping CK Kuang Rizal Ross for contributing the gig bags, guitar straps, strap buttons, plectrums, music sheets, and other accessories for this batch. Thank you all 🤝

The Headstock Had Other Plans…

This Yamaha C-310 classical guitar came in with a very unhappy-looking headstock.

Yep… broken clean enough to make any guitar owner go, “Aiyo… habislah” 😅

But a broken headstock isn’t automatically a dead guitar 💡

First, the break was carefully cleaned up and dry-fitted to make sure the two sections came back together exactly where they belonged. No forcing, no guessing, no “just squeeze some glue in and hope for the best.” 😆

Once the fit was right, Titebond Original glue was worked into the joint, the headstock was carefully aligned, and controlled clamping pressure was applied. The important part here is getting the alignment spot-on while the glue cures, because once that glue grabs, there’s very little room for drama.

After curing, the clamps came off and the real cleanup began.

The repaired area was carefully scraped and sanded, taking down the squeeze-out and smoothing the transition without unnecessarily removing the original wood. The neck and headstock were checked for straightness, the repaired joint was inspected from different angles, and the surface was gradually brought back to a clean, presentable finish.

Then came the final checks ; tuners back on, strings fitted, tuning brought up gradually, and the guitar tested under tension.

And there it was.

Back from the operating table… 🎸

Not a perfect guitar because it was never about making the break disappear completely. The goal was to make the repair strong, properly aligned, clean and reliable ; and most importantly, get this Yamaha C-310 back into someone’s hands making music again.

Another headstock saved from the scrap pile…😎🎸

What started off as a simple idea of giving pre-loved guitars a second life has grown into something truly meaningful.

Through the Donor Guitar Initiative, donated instruments are repaired, serviced and passed on to homes, community centres and organisations where they can bring music, learning and joy to those who need it most.

Every guitar has a story. Every donation gives that story another chapter…

A heartfelt thank you to every donor, every receiving centre, and everyone who has supported this journey. Your generosity makes this possible 🙏🏻🙏🏻🙏🏻

Changed hands ❤️ Changed lives ❤️ Stronger together 🤝🤝🤝

Here’s to many more guitars finding new homes and new musicians🎸🎸🎸

“The Patient Repair”

A broken headstock is never just a matter of putting two pieces back together.

This Valencia classical guitar came into the workshop with a badly broken headstock, requiring more than a quick glue-up. With a repair like this, the goal is not only to make it structurally strong again, but to restore the instrument carefully while preserving as much of its original character as possible.

The process started with a thorough inspection of the break; checking the fracture lines, the wood fibres, the alignment, and how the broken sections seated together.

Once everything was properly understood, the broken surfaces were carefully cleaned and prepared. The headstock was then dry-fitted repeatedly to ensure that the original geometry and string-line alignment could be accurately restored.

Titebond Original was applied to the prepared joint, followed by careful clamping. Pressure had to be controlled precisely: enough to close the joint properly, but not so much that valuable glue was unnecessarily squeezed out or the headstock shifted out of alignment.

After curing, the repair area was cleaned and refined. Any unevenness was carefully levelled, followed by sanding and cosmetic restoration to blend the repaired section back into the surrounding wood.

Finally, the guitar was reassembled, restrung and checked for structural integrity, alignment, playability and tuning stability.

A headstock repair may look simple once it’s finished.

The difficult part is making sure every step underneath that finish is done right.

Another guitar brought back from the brink… 🎸
