Quiet alleyways, old jetties, sunlit streets, and easily overlooked everyday scenes—for Chong Hon Fatt, these familiar places were a continuous source of inspiration.

Over decades, he returned to the same places—painting them in shifting light, seasons, and moods. From bustling streets to peaceful corners, his works reveal the quiet beauty of Penang’s everyday landscape and his deep connection to the places he observed throughout his life.

✨ Swipe through Penang in the eyes of Chong Hon Fatt.

A Rare Record of the Penang Second Bridge

During the construction of the Penang Second Bridge, Chong Hon Fatt was the only artist granted access to paint on site.

Over several years, he returned to the site, observing and documenting the bridge’s transformation through a remarkable series of paintings. Beyond recording a major engineering feat, these works preserve a fleeting chapter in Penang’s evolving landscape.

This exhibition presents that unique chapter of history alongside other works from the series. 🌊

✨ Coming 8 August: The Poetry of Light: A Retrospective of Chong Hon Fatt.
We can’t wait to share this special collection with you.

For decades, his brush has lingered on a single city.

Penang — has long been Chong Hon Fatt’s lifelong subject. For years, he has remained devoted to plein air painting, working outdoors beneath open skies and drifting clouds, wandering through streets and alleys, along coastlines and into hidden corners. Sensitive to the shifting light, he portrays the city’s ever‑changing face.
