Synergy Dance

Synergy Dance Synergy Dance Studio estableshed at 2004. BORNEO DANCE THEATRE is the first full-time professional dance theatre in Borneo.

It was founded by Christopher Liew who gradu- ated with a championship in Degree in Dance from Chinese Culture University in Taiwan. The Borneo Dance Theatre aims, through cross-field combination of Dance art and multimedia productions, to present the culture and other special facets of Borneo, such as its music and tropical environ- ment, and at the same time to create a unique ”language” of Born

and Dance Theatre. We wish to share our original art pieces with the world. Besides professional dance training, the artist of the BDT need to learn techniques of designing and making costumes and of multi- media production, as well as music composition and choreography. This all aims to develop artists with an enhanced artistic creativity. The BDT has done their first dance tour named “HALFWAY” since June 2013 and received a great feeback from all the audiences.
婆羅舞蹈劇場是婆羅洲第一個全職專業舞蹈劇場,成立於2012年8月。 此舞蹈劇場由2004年以第一名成績畢業於台灣中國文化大學舞蹈學系 的劉偉義擔任藝術總監。婆羅舞蹈劇場旨在融合現代舞及婆羅洲許多獨 有的文化藝術特色如原住民鄉土音樂、原野森林特色等,與多媒體創 作融合的舞蹈劇場演出模式。婆羅舞蹈劇場的成立,是為了能夠以全 職專業舞蹈劇場的角色,為世界分享更多獨有特色的舞蹈作品。舞者 除了專業的舞蹈肢體訓練外,亦進修服裝設計、多媒體製作、音樂製 作等訓練及創作,以圖更多元化的藝術工作者創作個性。
在未成立婆羅舞蹈劇場之前,劉偉義在2004年畢業後返回馬來西亞 沙巴州成立「舞藝舞蹈教育機構」Synergy Dance Studio及現代舞團 Synergy Dance Theatre，歷時9年。婆羅舞蹈劇場已在2014年4月巡迴亞洲演出實驗舞蹈劇場作品“幾輪時間”(Time Capsule)之六場巡迴演出。亦進行舞蹈講座、舞蹈攝影展、舞蹈工作坊及與舞蹈藝術工作者跨領域合作等演出活動。

I worked with my SDT dancers through online meeting and we build all these clips together. Every dancer was given the title of “Corner” and 30seconds limit of the black and white movie clip. I heard of many news about domestic violence and how the world change by the Covid19. Stay positive and learn from the negative too. This is how we grow stronger. If there is anyone who wish to work on another dance film project, do contact me and may be we can try to work something out. Stay safe my dear friend.
這是我和SDT的舞者在MCO行動管制期間一起工作的計畫，以30秒的角落及影像概念來創作這“Corner”(角落）。
所有事物一體兩面。這段期間看見的現象、聽見的暴力、感受的冷冰，都是建立未來的自己。別被負能量擊倒，也同時別被正能量沖昏頭。物極必反，器滿則傾。
我陸陸續續地會創作網路的素材，若有興趣共同努力舞蹈影片的朋友大家可以一起聯繫、努力。

The Whispering (2015) by Borneo Dance Theatre

The mother nature is healing due to the lock down of many country now. This remind us of how much damage our daily life affected the mother nature in a global scale. "The Whispering" was a dance piece about Bruno Manser's story who fight for the right of Penan people in Borneo Island. Let's learn from his kindness and love towards mother nature.

Just finished WAIG tour performance at 1st and 2nd May 2018 at "Verve in Love" at Kuala Lumpur. By sharing the culture and dance art through WAIG to the audiences in KL, we received a very sincere offer from the audience to help us with our props and luggage transportation from KL to JB.
