Synopsis
This talk will reveal the research and creative process behind the virtual reconstruction project of old Kajang town in Selangor. The project is a multidisciplinary practice that includes game design, animation and built environment studies.
The highlight of the talk will be on the development of the virtual world prototype and how the concepts of Environmental Storytelling, Embedded Narratives and Participatory Art are integrated into it.

ABOUT THE SPEAKER
Hafez is a PhD student working on the reconstruction project of an old town to preserve its memories and heritage. The project focuses on the community and a local museum's participation in the creative process.

His passions are in restoration, upcycling and adaptive reuse of old houses and building components, reminiscing and revisualizing the past, and to re-present them through technologically assisted creative methods.

These passions, together with his experiences in teaching and studying 3D animation and its related technologies has inspired the virtual reconstruction project for his PhD based on his own hometown as a subject of “place”.
