The credit of bringing Bharathanatyam to its present form goes to the famous Tanjore Quartet comprising Chinnayya, Ponniah, Sivanandam and Vadivelu . Indra Manikam of the Tanjai Kamalaa Indira Bharathanatya Vidhyalayaa who guided us through our dance journey from a young age and introduced “Kalaimamani” , “Thalai Kol Asan” Guru B. Herambanathan of the Tan

javur Bavu Pillai Bharathanatya Vidhyalayaa who inherits the said tradition. We feel privileged and honored to be disciples of Guru B.Herambanathan and wish to express our sincere appreciation to him for the constant encouragements, guidance and training which he has provided us. Since the inception of this dance school in 1998, it has been a platform for many young talented dancers to explore, pursue and harness their artistic faculty. The main objective of this school is to promote the ancient rich heritage of Indian Art (specifically Bharathanatyam) and culture; thus ensuring its survival in a pure form and uphold the philosophy behind the dance, which is to search the human soul and unite with the Supreme Being.

Nrithya Vriksham (The Tree of Dance )

The Salangai Pooja marks a sacred milestone in a dancer’s journey. A moment where dedication meets devotion, and learning transforms into artistic expression.
“Nrithya Vriksham” symbolizes this journey as a growing tree.

Rooted deeply in the rich tradition of Bharathanatyam and nurtured under the guidance of the Guru, the dancer begins as a tender sapling. With discipline, perseverance, and grace, this sapling grows stronger each day, drawing strength from its roots while reaching outward through expression and creativity.

Each step, each rhythm, and each gesture becomes a branch that expands the dancer’s artistry. Over time, this tree blossoms, reflecting beauty, strength, and the timeless legacy of the Guru–Shishya parampara.

I'm Nrithya Vriksham, you are not just beginning a dance milestone. You are planting the seeds of your journey as a student, where every step you learn will grow into grace, discipline, and artistry.

We warmly invite you to “Nrithya Vriksham”, the sacred Salangai Pooja ceremony, where four young and budding artistes from SSDB Arts & Cultural Academy will adorn their dance bells for the very first time, marking a significant milestone in their Bharatanatyam journey.

Following this auspicious ceremony, the dancers will present a traditional Margam.

Join us to witness this beautiful occasion and bless these dedicated dancers as they take their first steps into the world of classical performance.
