Before the grand Procession, safety pass (平安关) and needle crossing ceremony were held.

The Nine Emperor Gods Festival 2025 is a nine day Taoist vegetarian celebration beginning on the Tuesday, 21 October and ends on Wednesday, 29 October. The Nine Emperor Gods Festival pays homage to the Goddess of the North Star.

Moments of Thaipusam 2025

Penang Thaipusam is a three-day celebration that sees devotees clad in yellow and saffron, bearing a pot of cow milk as an offering on their heads and kavadis with body and facial piercings; seeking for blessings, fulfilling vows and offering thanks to Lord Murugan. Devotees prepare for the rituals by keeping clean, doing regular prayers, following a vegetarian diet and fasting while remaining celibate.

Thaipusam is more than just a celebration of Lord Murugan's victory over evil; it is considered a day for devotees to seek Lord Murugan's blessings, guidance, protection, spiritual purification, penance, and self-reflection. Devotees can be seen chanting vel, vel, vetri (victorious) or Vel, Vel Muruga (Glory unto Muruga), and traditional drummers accompany devotees as they fulfil their vows.

The King of Hades (Tai Su Yeah) in Bukit Mertajam.

8.69 metres giant paper effigy was set up for the Hungry Ghost Festival 2024 celebration in the city of Bukit Mertajam. According to Taoists believe, the gates of hell will open during the seventh of the lunar month, and is a vacation month for the spirits to wander around the mortal world. They will be watched by the King of Hades during the whole seventh lunar month. The two weeks festival in the city of Bukit Mertajam was ended with a grand sent off on the 20th August of 2024.
