Defoliado parcial en este ficus !

Does your Ficus have giant leaves blocking the light from reaching the interior? 🌿 Today, we’re doing a partial defoliation. This technique helps balance the tree’s vigor and allows light to reach the inner branches to encourage new budding.

Tu Ficus tiene hojas gigantes que tapan la luz al interior? 🌿 Hoy le toca un defoliado parcial. Esta técnica ayuda a equilibrar el vigor del árbol y permite que la luz llegue a las ramas internas para fomentar brotación nueva.

Hey guys! Today, we're diving into this cool technique called Split Trunk on this Ficus. So, what’s the deal? Well, it’s all about making some strategic vertical cuts at the base. The number of cuts really depends on how thick the trunk is, okay?

So, what’s the goal here? We’re trying to open up the trunk a bit to create a super cool conical shape and a wider nebari in no time flat. Pretty neat, right?

We picked a Ficus for this because it grows like crazy and heals up really well, but you can totally use this on other species too.

WHAT TO DO IN WINTER/ TRABAJOS DE INVIERNO EN BONSAI.

Hey guys! So, let’s talk about something super important that you can’t overlook during winter: taking off that modeling wire, alright?

First off, if you leave that wire on too long, it can really mess with your tree. When spring rolls around, the trunk and branches start to thicken up fast. If you don’t get that wire off in time, it can dig into the bark and leave some nasty marks. Trust me, those marks can stick around for ages, and nobody wants that on their bonsai, right? A tree with bad bark is just not a good look and can really drop its value.

Now, when’s the best time to do this? Winter, my friends! It's the perfect season because the tree’s growth slows down, so there’s less chance of new marks happening. Plus, if you’ve got a deciduous tree, it’s leafless, which means you can see all the branches clearly. That makes it way easier to spot any wire that’s getting too tight.

So, keep that in mind, alright? Take care of your bonsai this winter!
