Five years ago I threw a party on my patio in Plaza España, Barcelona. Cold beers, close friends, an artist from Paris performing with a violin. No flyer, no guest list, no plan.

I didn’t call it anything back then.

Now I look up at Organikka and there’s been 150+ shows. Art gallery takeovers. Club nights. Our own festival. A jazz gig in a mansion that made no sense financially nor logistically but somehow worked. The Louis Vuitton Guide feature thing still makes me laugh — never saw that coming haha.

I’d love to tell you I had a vision. I didn’t. I just couldn’t stop. Every yes led to another yes and before I knew it we were here.

The truth is it only held together because people gave a damn. My team worked their asses off. Artists trusted us because they realized it was something different in the local music scene. And the audience — man, you all showed up, stayed and made it loud.

We built something scrappy and real. No strategy. Just momentum, heart, community.

It’s weird to write this because I still feel like the guy on that patio. But yeah. I’m kinda proud. And I know I didn’t get here alone.

Curious facts about Fête de La Musique:

· The spark: In 1981, Maurice Fleuret became director of music at France’s Ministry of Culture. He noticed that 5 million French people played instruments but had no public outlet.

· The idea: He proposed a nationwide event where amateur and professional musicians would fill the streets—breaking the usual concert-hall barrier.

· The launch: The first Fête de la Musique happened on June 21, 1982, timed to the summer solstice for long daylight.

· The philosophy: All performances must be free to the public, and most musicians volunteer their time.

· The spread: It was so successful that within a few years, other European cities adopted it. By 1985, it had crossed the Atlantic, and today it’s celebrated on every inhabited continent.
