Different, yet the same. Two disciplines, one vision.
FUNCIONO, or Rafael Palacios, is an architect and photographer based in Guadalajara, bringing two passions together into a single creative practice. The identity emerges from the intersection of architecture and photography, merging the forms, proportions, and principles of both disciplines into a cohesive visual system that represents them equally.
At the core of the identity is CODICE, a custom typeface created to express a contemporary Mexican identity. Its letterforms draw inspiration from architectural structures, while its proportions and underlying system reference the language of photography. The identity preserves the proportions of a 35 mm film frame, using it as a compositional device to frame and highlight the content.
