The extent and depravity revealed in the so-far-released Epstein files is both shocking and deeply disturbing. Yet, somehow, not entirely surprising.

Although the dust is still settling on fact-from-fiction, one horrific truth stands out above the corruption: the vast, systemic, predatory abuse of women, children, and others at the hands of a those in positions of absolute power.
The scale and monstrosity of the whole thing have rocked me and my family to the core, and our thoughts are with the survivors.

I don’t pretend to know where we go from here, but I don’t think anything will ever be the same again.
Nor should it.

For a start, those who have been named in the files need to be brought to justice, not just publicly shamed. And we shouldn’t stop shouting about it, because we must protect the most vulnerable people in society.
Then we need new systems, transparent ones that work for everyone who will come behind us.
Our children are watching, and before too long, we’ll have to answer for what we did to keep them safe.
We can’t be numbed into silence about this.
For all those who feel furious, betrayed and unsafe, there are more good people than not. We are hoping to change everything.
