Every morning, she investigates whatever the ocean has left behind.

Seaweed. Shells. Things that belong here.
And things that don’t.

Watching her made me start looking closer, too.
Because somewhere beyond this shoreline, life is moving beneath the surface - ancient, quiet, and completely dependent on what we leave behind.

That thought stayed with me.
And eventually, it became a painting.

Old Soul Rising.

Maybe we protect what we love.
But first, we have to notice it.
